There's no snow... why wouldn't a fire be able to start in January?

not sure. but it was like in the movies with the giant ******* sand storms...except it was smoke and it just blanketed everything hahah. you can tell in some of those pictures it melted the barbed wire and the polls. i can't wait till spring when these are intentionally started to burn off the old grass it isn't too bad....unless they get out of control, which on average is about 2-3 a year hahaha. living 20 yards from 200 acres=no good

I bet this fire was intentional.. People do that, somehow it helps the next cycle of agriculture. Like lava from a volcanic eruption becomes somewhat of a fertilizer.

Induces nitrogen and other nutrients into the soil. Burning helps so much. Also can be used to prevent future fires by burning off excess under brush.

no, it was not intentional. and yes, i know about those. its also kinda common sense to NOT do those this early, normally don't start till early may and go through late april

Take your logical explanations and GTFO

I'd like to think someone was having a romp inside the hay barn and knocked over a burning oil light starting a huge fire that burned the 20 acres...

and besides, if it was intentional. they would have done the whole field, they wouldn't have gotten that close to the houses, there would have been atleast 5 people on 4wheelers with torches, and there wouldn't have been 4 firetrucks trying to put it out

sorry, this was no great fire although i'm pretty sure that IS how the great fire started, they just wanted to tell people a cow knocked over a lantern instead of two teenagers gettin it on. the elders could have used that to their advantage by saying "look kids, if you have sex, becareful, cause you can burn down the city if youre not"

Happens in Texas as well, but winter months are usually the driest in that region of the US also.
