I found some tires on Craigslit that I'm considering buying however I think they are too big. I'm using the stock rims on a 2006 SS/NA which come stock with 205/50-17s. I know you can go 225/45-17 and have the speedo be pretty much right on. Can you go to a 225/50-17?

I did a tire comparo on an online tire size calc and it says the new tire would make the speedo 3.06% slower and they warn that anything over 3% difference could case brake failure yada yada. Overall tire diameter would increase buy 1".

Normally I wouldn't bother but these seem like a good buy. The tires are currentlyselling on Tire Rack for $290 a piece and the guy is selling them for $120 for the set - never mounted - run flats.

 

Wow, no one knows or has an educated opinion? I guess that's better than asking a dumb question with an obvious answer and getting torched for it.
