Moody explains offest per 4 energy drinks

My buddy got all hopped up on Monster and responded to a post like this, just thought it was funny and the faster you read it , is better.

"Because there are so many manufacturers out there (car wise), it's not as simple as saying "X offset will work with X width and X diameter". There are factors like caliper width and heighth that really **** things up.

DISKS HAVE EVERYTHING TO DO WITH FITMENT OPTION. THEY INFLUENCE CONCAVITY AND BRAKE CLEARANCE. **** UP YOUR DISK CHOICE, AND GET ****ED ON EXPENSIVE WHEELS THAT ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. DON'T BE THAT GUY.

For example:

A 5Zigen FN01R-C in the size 17X10, offset +35 will fit a variety of cars. It will even fit my Supra in the front. This is a one-piece wheel, but it's easier to explain before we get into the multi-piece situation... Since it BARELY clears my brake caliper, but still does (by a hair), it's considered doable. But, suppose that I had a Stoptech kit on my car, that DIDN'T have larger rotors (stock size), but had a different caliper - it would not work, due to the caliper hitting the inside of the spokes of the wheel.

Move on over to multi-piece wheels, and things get complex, which is why you have different "disks" to separate all of the bull****. Try this scenario: You have two Supras (MKIV, due to me knowing the offsets right to left, front to back, and knowing that I won't make a mistake), and you want to fit wheels on them. One is a Super-Gay N/A, and the other is a Turbo car. Now, you want to buy some 3-piece wheels for them, namely Work Meisters, since we're on the topic of O vs. R vs. L vs. A Disks. You decide that you want 18" wheels, staggered. 18X9 and 18X10's do the job, but what about offset? Here we go - you choose an offset that's decent for both fronts and backs, let's say +41 for the fronts, and +35 for the backs. That's a flush fitment, that's nice and doesn't look too _IN_ or too _OUT_, it's just right.

BUT WAIT! You want lip, and you want the wheels to be aggressive and look nice. For the N/A car, you select a decent disk, say an L disk (which may or may not be more or less concave), and your +41 to go with the fronts, and you want the monster lip out back. Your +35 has no problem fitting in the back, even on a 10" wide wheel, so you go with the R disk, just to make sure that you have that monster stepped lip that everyone likes. Well **** - now you want to have that in the front, too. Let's see if it will work: No - it won't - you have a caliper clearance issue. You have to go down to the other disk to clear, despite offset (remember - CONCAVITY!), so now you go back to the L Disk, because the R won't work... you still have great offsets (+41, and +35), and you're still flush with a great disk selection, as well as size/width.

(I know that this is alot, but bear with me. My fingers are about to fall off. Thank God that I type 130 or so...)

On to the turbo car...

You want the same, but wait - you can't just have the Meisters that buddy got, in similar offsets... you want BIG, because your car isn't the weaksauce rolling trashcan that is replicated as an N/A MKIV wannabe. You have to rep the **** out of these wheels, if you're going to do it right...

You immediately hop to the most aggressive offset that you can get, as well as width, for your 18" wheels. Let's say that you pick an 18X9 and an 18X10.5, with +41 (as your friend did in the front), and +35, respectively. You have an extra 1/2" in the back, so you think that you're cool. Disk time. You don't want the stupid A disk (say that it's less concave, and flat, like that homo that is on your car forum that bought Volk TE37's that are flat as **** with a weakass offset, and was promptly punked at the local car meet by the guy that did his research, got the concave option, and then got the meanass offset to match for his RWD turbo ride...) You browse through, and pick a disk that you like for the rear, lets say that badass R Disk that buddy with the N/A MKIV got, but you've got a little more on him, so you plan to run 315's in the back, but to keep the tire from hitting the coilover, you'll stick with the +35 due to your now wider, 10.5" width...

On to the fronts - you find out that the offset that your friend picked was acceptable, but you want more. You're sticking with an 18X9, so you have options to **** around, but not a ton, because of your calipers... You run turbo brakes, so they are alot larger, and the A disk is too *****, and flat, and won't clear, so you don't want that... you immediately jump to the L or R Disks - slow down, Junior. They won't work, because they're not available in an offset, clearance, and size that works. **** - what are you going to do? You jump back to the L Disk, but that's what *** boy that has the N/A MKIV has. ****ING CHRIST - you're stuck... you don't want what HE has...

Time to get down to business and cheat. If you pick the +41 in the front, and you have the L Disk, you're going to have the same junk that SO-AND-SO does... what can you do? You notice that with an O Disk, it's more aggressive in spoke concavity, but may not clear the front calipers. Don't get stuck - CHEAT. You decide to order the badass offset/Disk/sizing for the back, and you're golden. Then you turn around and order your 18X9, +41, but instead of ***** L Disk, you want that pornstar O Disk. You'll have to move the wheel further out to clear the brakes, but... ****! AGAIN! It's not available in anything but that stupid +41, and it's not going to work...

Get spacers...

****ING SUCCESS! You can get a 10mil spacer, clear the brakes, run the cool Disk, and then push the wheel to a +31 for ****ing serious offset and ownage. You rule. Beads of sweat, pouring down your brow and forming on your upper lip are now well worth it, because you've convinced the guy that you're ordering from THAT THIS WILL WORK. Your wheels arrive, and you promptly **** little buddy up who has the same wheels, but look totally different, due to his lamo selection and playing it safe by picking the sissy Disks that they recommended.

Game, check, mate. Anyone got a smoke?"
