Opinion on Intense Stage 3 or Pulley and GM stage 1
Ok guys. I have some money burning a hole in my pocket right now (about $820). Lets face it, the GM staged kits won't be out for a while which leaves me to two options:
1. Intense Stage 3 kit (already have a 2.8 inch pulley so it would only cost me $400)
2. 3 inch pulley with spark plugs (and later on gm stage 1 when it comes out)
I just can't decide. I want the power of the stage 3 kit however the only con of that is the tuning. If I just slapped on a 3 inch with spark plugs, I could just wait until GM releases Stage 1 and get that with the 3 inch. However, I would have to buy a 3 inch pulley since I don't have one, therefore probably making it more expensive than the stage 3 kit from Intense but only by about $100 (guessing since there are no prices on gm kits).
What do you guys think I should get?

I have NEVER heard of a problem and 3 of us down here in FL are fine, along with a few more redlines, no bad effects from the 3" .....I worry about the 2.8....
I have the 3", plugs and Airbox mod and im really happy with the performance, i know its not the quickest in town, but its good enough for me.
sorry for my rant: to answer ur Q more specifically, I have had my car dynoed 3 or 4 times and the A/F ratio was close to stock the whole time, nothing crazy

My buddy with a Billetflow hub system is having some service issues with Doug @ Billetflow and frankly, I don't want to give some a-hole my money with an attitude like that. Are you liking the pulley? Any slip problems? Did it come with a tensioner or did you buy an ideler pulley as well? Sorry for all the questions but I want to make an informed decision before I buy. Also, how long did it take to ship to your Florida address?

I'm gonna have to say no on the intense kit. just chill with a 3' pully get some bolt ons and wait and hope for a real flash or tune from anyone. I wanna run an Intense kit car to see how it holds up against me.

To the original poster, a 3" pulley and 1 range colder plugs will be fine so order it up and enjoy
Yeah I already have the K&N intake and Magnaflow catback exhaust. With the pulley I'm expecting hopefully 240 to the wheels. I will be saving for a clutch after that. Most likely Spec Stage 2+
I've seen it done a different way also. You take the the line off the top of the solenoid (closest to the firewall) and cap that. Do they both work the same or is the one you described, ninja, better? Because Darksun had it that way also.
I see where it is at...there are 2 tubes...under the one...its black...they have a BMP for it...anyone have it? or just plug it? Doesnt air flow go through there...? i hate learning a whole next system..haha
Unplug the one that is solid black that runs up the engine bay and plug it and leave the canister open to air. Memphis, the way you did it put my car into a serious nasty idle but theoretically it is the same. As long as you disable the vacuum going through the lines and leave the actuator end open to air it should be fine but as I said my car did not like your way at all. The way I see it the actuator HAS to stay open to air.
I'll be plugging the actutator line then when I get my 3 inch. I can't wait. I want to test my car out on my friends srt4 that has a mbc pushing 18 psi. That's the only mod he had done to the car performance wise. He also ran a 13.7 on Friday night too. That thing is pretty quick for one mod.

Our computer controls the boost. If we slap on a 3 inch pulley, we will not get full boost out of the pulley because our chip will be limiting it (that doesn't sound like a word but you know what I mean). So say you put on your 3 inch pulley. You will only get about 14 psi out of it. When you remove that hose, the ecu can't read how much the supercharger is boosting so it can't limit the boost therefore giving you the full advantage of the 3 inch which would be like 15-15.5 psi, thus more power.
Nothing should go wrong unless you have a 2.8 inch pulley or lower on there without proper fuel upgrades. 2.9 is iffy. I don't know about that size on the stock fuel parts....people have it done but I wouldn't do it myself. The boost bypass mod will not do anything on a stock car...I have read stories where it actually makes the car slower. There is no need to do this mod on the stock pulley.
