View Full Version : led light behind grill?
zay52790 02-21-2009, 12:50 PM well i got a few white led strips a while back and i have one extra one sitting arond. I was thinking of putting it underneath the grill such that it kinda glows from behind the grill when the lights are on. But i feel like it seems borderline rice. So i wanted to get other peoples oppinions.
clifnotes: lighting behind the grile of the car. Rice or Not Rice
chevy cobalt 08 02-21-2009, 01:18 PM I did it and then fucked it up and been too lazy to re-do it but I have to say it looked pretty sweet. http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/2092/3921/30229460100_large.jpg I wouldn't really call it rice if you don't always have it on. For me lights are just to say I have them really . I almost never use my underglow, or interior lights.
LastAXEL 02-21-2009, 02:49 PM it really depends on how you do it. Why don't you just try it and see if you like it. You can always take it off.
burnrubr88 02-21-2009, 02:51 PM I say ricey, but im an attention whore myself. so i say do it. If it doenst look good, just take it off.
ace921000 02-21-2009, 03:01 PM put the light someplace useful. in your trunk maybe. the stock light in there sucks ass!!

He asked for opinions....so were giving it to him?.....
averagewhiteboy 02-21-2009, 04:11 PM Sometimes the rice/not rice factor depends on installation.
Regardless, give it a shot. If you like it, cool. If not, pull it off. lol.
zay52790 02-21-2009, 07:46 PM well i ended up installing it under the hood, by the strut tower bar. So it shines on the valve cover.
i thought it seemed like there was just to much going on in the front with the headlights and foglights and the grill being lit up
occsdude 02-21-2009, 07:48 PM depends how its done, like almost everyone has been saying
oowah 02-21-2009, 08:42 PM yeah what they said ^^^
if you like it, keep it. You can always turn them off. Just don't leave 4ft of wires hanging down or anything
Cptn Pants 02-21-2009, 09:59 PM I had thought about it too, but never got around to it, I was also afraid of them melting or something from the engine heat. I did a little test with a spare neon tube once, i though it looked cool.

Pics? I've been thinking of doing that instead of the grill again. I wanna see how it looks with the strut bar there.
