Cant get a good deal on a cobalt ss

ive been to three dealerships already trying to get a good deal on a 09 cobalt ss/tc, but it seems like they will not lower the price besides the rebates, my gms discount and gm card. with financing and everything the price is like 25k (msrp is like 24,900), so i was wondering how some of you people only paid like 22-23k total for your cars because right now it seems impossible for me to get that price.

When I got mine I told them I will pay 21.5K and nothing more....they whined and complained a bit but eventually they gave in.

Just remember that GM is in no position to have you pay anything close to sticker. If they cant get the price down for you, tell them you will go to another dealer that will.

Also, be willing to travel a bit for a different dealer....you will be surprised how much the prices vary from place to place if you are willing to make the distance trip (75+ miles).

There is a dealer in the Cleveland area known as Pat O'Brien Chevrolet and he has about 15 Cobalt SSs on his lot. They are all fully loaded (LSD, Sunroof, Some with the Highrise)..but they are all 08s. He bought a bunch of them that GM had left over and now he's selling them for dirt cheap. They all have less than 100 miles on them and they are all priced at 18,500. Pretty sexy deal if you ask me...but if an 09 is what you need...you'll have to wait for some incentives since GM can't even get rid of all their 08s yet!

09 Cobalt SS w/ LSD, sunroof, high spoiler, and performance display

MSRP: 25,885
After supplier discount: $25,083
After current rebate ($2,500): 22,583

If you could get them to match the employee discount it would be $1k less.

Then factor in TTL + finance.

You just have to know what to look for. Up here in Minnesota, I have located many that are under $20,000 but hardly any miles on them. I bought mine with 200 miles (180 of them were from a dealer trade) for just under $18,000. Not bad for a loaded SS/TC for that price I thought.

There are a few in particular here in MN that are considered "used" because they have miles on them.

'08 Yellow SS/TC Coupe, $16,980, 71 miles

'09 Sport Red Tint Coat SS/TC Sedan, $17,877, 22 miles

'08 Sport Red Tint Coat SS/TC Coupe, $19,987, 1201 miles

I was in the same mind set as you when I was looking at buying a SS/TC. Just search online for used ones and you will be surprised at how much the price is down. Good Luck.

I used edmunds and let every dealership i went to that im not looking for a debate. i told them what i wanted and said 22k nothing more, i know what i want, i know what others have paid.

Needless to say i drove off the lot paying 22k, and a $500 gas card.

Edmunds is good, i still have dealerships calling me. Too bad i have to tell them i bought the car over a month ago!

A car is not considerer used unless A) it was titled
B) it was a dealer car

Warranty will not start until the first title on the car. Even if the car had 500 miles on the odometer from test drives, the official warranty doesn't start till the car has been titled. if the car has a bumper to bumper 3 year 36,000 mile warranty, The 3 year part would start the day of the title, and you would get the warranty until 36,500 miles then.

25k at what stage in the process? After TTL or before?

Offer them @ 22k after rebates and before TTL

Those 08's are all part of the lot of wind damaged cars GM wrote off. They have no paint warranty and I was also told they had no rust thru warranty. They were 17,750 a couple weeks ago, guess they raised the prices. Mentioned before but beware of that dealership, myself and several others on here have filed BBB complaints on them

Yeah. I got mine for $15888 with 165 mi on it. Perks of buying an 08, in 09, that had been titled for a little over a month.

There are better deals to be had.

Step 1: Go to local credit unions and banks, figure out whats the interest rate they will give you (@ a specific term length; you can't really have one w/o the other)
Step 2: Tell the dealership the best rate you got, they will usually work pretty hard to beat that rate if you are serious
Step 3: If dealership doesn't work with you, you get a loan through whatever bank/credit union gave you the best rate and get the loan through them

You don't HAVE to finance through a dealership, don't be a lazy **** and do some searching around.

Check out bankrate.com, they are a great site to start looking at. Right now they have chase auto w/ a 5.41% 48mo new car.

Get financing before you buy! It helps the haggling process alot. When all you have to haggle is sticker price, they are going to try and get warranties and extra protection plans. Decline them if you don't need them.

I already tried bankrate and intrest for socal ranges from 7.3-9.5, so there isnt a difference really and i just went to a dealer that got me 6.9 so i might work something out with them. Bank of America has 4.8 right now i hope i can qualify for that cuz that will be great.

i just picked mine up the other day for $25500 fully loaded except the performance meter(wanted the boost gaueg). sounds like a lot but heres the catch. sticker is 25552.87 ok...... invoice price ended up being like 24900. after everything was talked for the price above is what it cost with tax title and financed for 60 months. reality of it is i got a car with 2 miles on it for around 22900 without the tax title and financing. taxes were around 1600-1800, plates 145 doc fee 200 and then financing for 60 months.
