09 SS/TC for 17.5k

Okay, so there is a Victory Red Cobalt SS/TC on the lot, original sticker was 24,100. I know the invoice price is 21ish plus destination.

I talked to a dealer and they offered me, $17,500 for a 2009 Cobalt with a Sunroof and spare tire (no LSD, premium sound upgrades, etc.).

My main question is (I know this is a good deal), but could this deal be even better with the horrible economic situation right now? I tried to push them down to 17k and they're not really looking to budge.

I'm contemplating on calling them and either stating I found a better deal else where, or that the numbers aren't really going to work out with the car at 17,500. They originally offered it for 17.1k with some lease to buy rebate, but I own my civic right now, so then it went to 18,1k and then I pushed them down to 17.5k.

For some reason I think I can get this car lower. What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Matt

I don't think you'll get it any lower, I imagine they are losing a boat load of money as it is. I saw the invoice for my car, and it was well over that. No LSD blows, but I might still do it anyway for that price.

With those options thats a decent deal, I'd never get a TC without LSD or the system though.

I'm selling my 08 red TC for $17k fully loaded in the classifieds and South Pacific Forums. Perfect condition, only 4k miles, Moonroof, LSD, Red and Black SS interior. tinted windows and AVIC F700bt deck installed and 2 10" JLW3's. Hahn Intercooler also installed. Need to sell ASAP so I can buy a truck or suv cash. I owe $10,400 on it still, looking for $17,000 OBO

It does have the pioneer system, just not the upgraded system with the USB port and whatever else comes with it. It's Chapman Chevrolet btw.

I'm from the area and bought mine right after Thanksgiving. chapman was one of my stops. They had 2 plain SS/TC silver with no options except spare tire and the price they quoted me was $20,999. For $17,500 you better grab it. I bought mine over at Gary Barbara for a little over $20K with limited slip, high rise spoiler, pioneer system, and sunroof. I don't think there's anyway to beat that price.

Is the LSD a make or break for this car??? Is it an ABSOLUTE necessity to have? I do plan on adding more power to it, the Civic I have right now has LSD and it's fabulous!!

I wouldn't buy it without the LSD.

I got my 05 SS/SC brand new for $16,900. Same deal, didn't have the G85. But I figured it was an amazing deal so I got it anyway and I've somewhat regretted it ever since. I love the car, HATE the lack of LSD.

LSD was only a 600$ option up here in canada. It is a MUST with this car IMO because I like road and auto-x racing. But seriosuly if you're not racing around corners and such, who cares. My SC didnt have an LSD and I had a lot of fun coming out of corners and doing 80Ft burnouts... lol

And there is a 260 watt sound system available in the TC as part of the 260hp/260watts package. Im not sure the wattage of my old one in the SC. Maybe its the same, but it is an option though thats for sure. This system "sounds" louder to me, but that could all be in my ears..

AGH, thanks for all the input, I'm so confused on what I should do!! This sucks, I mean I don't to any auto-x, but I can't say that I would NEVER do it. I don't race barely at all, I race myself when getting onto freeways from the ramps, etc.

The only thing I didn't get to test was the handling. The civic si handles like a dream, I know this car get .9g, is it really that good through the turns? Even without LDS?

Sorry for the amateur questions, besides raw power that this has over the civic, I still want to have fun in the twisties!!

You'll be disappointed without the LSD. The handling is pretty good but the acceleration OUT of the corners is where it gets ya. That's the best I can say. I mean, like with mine I do some auto-x here and there, but my main interest is in track days. Feels great on the straights, feels good going into the turns but then when I want to get on it and pull it out of the turns, it just craps out because of the open diff.

No, I have no clue what LSD means.....Its the drug right?

I used to have a 05' with the G85 package and it was nice, performed well. I have this 08' without the LSD and I don't mind. Not a BIG difference IMO. Performs well, I'm happy with it and I didn't have to pay extra for it. So there is nothing silly about it and sometimes Limited Slip Differential Doesn't mean your cars is any more bad ass than the next guys.

It has its pros and it has its cons........so what
