Drilled...Slotted...or Drilled and Slotted???

I'm trying to decide which rotors to get from R1 Concepts.
I was thinking the Drilled/Slotted Premium Series.
The only thing I was worried about was that I've heard the drilled rotors tend to crack easier.
Would that be something I would have to worry about if i were using them with their Hawk HPS brake pads?
What kind of abuse does it take to crack a rotor?

No abuse is necessary to crack a drilled rotor. I've seen it happen blenty of times with my dad's car, even on high quality Brembo rotors.

Honestly you can beat a good high-quality vented blank mated with a set of excellent pads.

I went with EBC rotors last time and they were slotted and dimpled. I didn't want to go with drilled as I heard of cracking issues.

So Slotted for sure is what I would go with.

What alley said, a good blank and a solid pad. EBC or Hawk and you will be amazed.

Seems to me that dimpled wouldn't really add any performance on top of drilled
Though I'm no expert by any means...hence the op

I've had my drilled slotted on for almost 2 years and almost 100 passes on the 1/4 mile track. So far no problems, of course now that I've said this something will happen this year. Anyway, I got mine from CED for got the brand name though, I think just regular AC Delco.....

The drilled/dimpled rotors are better at getting rid of the heat is it not? Why would lambo's and GT3's have them if they did nothing?

Drilled does not add any performance either.

Looks. Actually some drilled rotors actually build more heat. Some people swear by slotted, but the only thing those do reliably is eat up pads. The only thing REALLY necessary for good brake performance is a vented rotor and a well-matched pad.

I was under the impression that drilled rotors will dissipate the heat faster than non drilled. I can see where they may also build more heat also.

I've had my CED Drilled and Slotted with OEM pads for over 35k miles now with no problems (SS?SC). The pads still have a lot of material left on them and the rotors have no warp at all. I could see going another 10k or more on them. I would do this combo again. They have outlasted the OEM rotors and pads by far!

I have them and havent had any problems. I am using the posi-quiet brake pads. I am sure the Hawk HPS pads are better though.

I've got slotted and drilled. Cheap ceramic pads. Have about 10K so far. Great stopping, like charged said, they get stickier with the heat they retain. Yet dissipate the heat that is toooo hot. No problems so far.
