I started a 155 HP i want to see if i can touch 200 staying naturally aspirated. If i did cams and a tune you think i will be there?
occsdude 03-01-2009, 07:20 PM oops 2.2. i think you are gonna need quite a bit to get to 200. prolly injectors and some other goodies
StreetglowCobalt 03-01-2009, 07:21 PM hey is that your car in that pic? that is sick do u have springs on it? but yeah im gunna do a trifecta tune and see where that gets me

yes its my car. i have it on sportlines. i think you can prolly do it but you will prolly have to get some decent cams and get a good port job on your heads to help it.
DarkSergeant 03-01-2009, 09:55 PM No offense, but what makes you think you are at 155 hp? My 2.4 only had 155 at the wheels and that was with an intake and catback.
You are probably looking at starting somewhere around 135. Only thing that's going to get you close to 200 is some big time engine work or forced induction.
WhiteSSBalt 03-01-2009, 10:00 PM A 200whp 2.2 with just bolt-ons and a tune? Don't think so. My 2.4SS has a full exhaust (CA v1 header, XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe, ARK N2 cat-back), an AEM CAI and its HP Tuners tuned....and i'm willing to bet that if I dynoed it i'd be around 175whp....180whp AT BEST.

yellowltcoupe22 03-02-2009, 12:47 AM lol im sure the hp numbers he's talkin bout is at the crank. we all know thats a high number for 2.2 at the wheels. but 200 at the crank would still take some serious engine work. a ported head 2.4 mani cai full exhaust probably stage three cams and raise the compression ratio up might yeild a lil over 200whp with an agressive tune, and hell no all that wont be no where near cheap. you're talkin close to 10k worth of work to get there.
Phoenix454 03-02-2009, 09:06 PM I just wanted to add nice thread name. If you really wanted 200whp you would deffently need interal engine work like high compression, cams. injector, port the head, hell maybe even stroke it a bit , and then a good tune.
glen229 03-02-2009, 09:12 PM oops 2.2. i think you are gonna need quite a bit to get to 200. prolly injectors and some other goodies
injectors are going to be a waste of tuning time and will yeild absolutly no power gains unless the OP goes F/I
word of advice get a good lightwieght flywheel and you will see an increase in power
DarkSergeant 03-02-2009, 10:30 PM Word of advice, get a big ass turbo and call Trifecta. You'll be at 200+ whp in no time.
Bolt ons = WASTE OF MONEY for N/A.
Maven 03-03-2009, 01:43 PM Look and see what the top NA 2.4 guys are making...youll make a little bit less than them with the same mods. I dont think any LE5 guys have hit 200whp all motor yet.
SS4ME 03-03-2009, 01:46 PM By looking at the thread title I was going to say sure, get some weed. I guess I said it anyways.
D4u2s0t 03-03-2009, 01:48 PM not going to happen... unless you have serious coin a n/a build is not worth it on these cars.
StreetglowCobalt 03-03-2009, 06:23 PM i want to peice a turbo together but hell i dunno how much or what to get. other then a turbo.
DarkSergeant 03-03-2009, 08:30 PM Well, either start reading up on it, and put your own kit together, or you could just talk to your local speed shop, they'll help you out.
You may also want to talk to Vince at Trifecta, or over to ZZPerformance who are currently working on a 2.4L Turbo to see if they have any ideas.
Or you could could call Garrett directly, since they made the kit for the old 2.2's... www.turbobygarrett.com.
I don't know how different your engine set up is than the L61, but it may be a direct match up w/ the Garrett kit, just in need of a tune.
I wouldn't hold my breath for anyone to make a 'Hey, here's your turbo' package. You have to voice what you want and have the cash, or figure it out on your own ;).

FI is about tha only way to get 200+hp on 2.2l's.
I'm love NA but there's only so much u can do. Maybe try a 2.4mani TB swap, and ported? It'll getcha a lil higher.
