How do you wash your microfiber towels?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows of the proper way to clean your dirty microfibers? I got into a little discussion with our other detailer at work on which way is better.

Me: I throw them in the washer and put just a little detergent, like if it is a small load I use half the amount I would normally use to wash a small load. Then I use a medium load of water so the ratio of water to detergent is higher. Once that load is done I put it in for another load without deteregent to make sure there isn't any leftover soap residue on the towels. Then dry on medium heat.

Other detailer: He just throws them in the washing machine without putting any detergent in there because he says with all the cleaners that are on the towels they will get clean anyway. Then puts them in the dryer like normal.

The problem that I see with doing it his way is that I don't really use any cleaners with my towels. They are mainly used to take wax off and to do a final once-over of my interior to make sure there isn't any lint on the dash or seats.

So what do you do to clean your microfiber? Whose method is correct? Thanks

Look for special detergents that are specially formulated for UnderArmour and other microfiber clothes. I use Penguin Sport Wash, which does not leave any residue in the fibers that regular detergents leave behind. Please DO NOT put microfiber in the dryer or iron! Follow the wash directions that are on the tags of the towels.

For quick cleaning, hand wash with any hand soap or dish washing liquid;
rinse well.

For thorough cleaning use the washing machine. Microfiber loves hot water --
the hotter the better. It makes the microfiber swell to release trapped
dirt. You can use regular laundry detergent.

It's best to wash microfiber cloths separately from cotton towels.

Do not use LIQUID bleach or fabric softener

Plain detergent, wash alone, no added (fabric) softeners.

To dry them, use the low-heat setting on the dryer with no softening pad or hang-dry them. These methods will prevent clinging.
