At this point when a car alarm goes off I am pretty sure everyone just hopes the theif hurries up so we don't have to continue hearing it go off.
Too many false alarms have pretty much ruined any added value a car alarm might of had.
Great another car blasting "Protected by Viper stand back" all night cause the owner didn't have the motion sensors setup right and the wind keeps setting them off. Or kids keep setting them off cause they can.

Alarms have become so mundane in the last few years that nobody even pays attention to them.
The funny thing is that all of them do essentially the same thing, whether it's factory or "Viper." I want one that emits a noxious cloud of green smoke or perhaps an electric shock to anyone within 15 feet. Then it would actually be worth $500.
Until then my best theft deterrent will be a factory stereo.

Don't you have to disable the factory alarm system when you add an aftermarket system ?
It's going to be tough enough owning a first model year vehicle let alone beta testing all the alarm systems out there that where designed before the cobalt was even released.

We also had a Trailblazer that would roll down the windows every time you armed the Viper alarm they had on it. It also did something screwey with the heated seats, but we never did figure it out.

The electrical systems are computer controlled and the BCM's are pretty complex. The chances of any aftermarket system integrating 100% into a newer car has to be pretty sketchy. I know when I put my stereo into my S10, the professional gave me the wrong kit (harness and mounting) for my truck (even tho it said S10 98 and up) in reality GM had changed the whole stereo system and I had to get a Saturn kit to actually get it to install right. And when I was down there was still about 5-10 wires that factory stereo used that the aftermarket one didn't even touch. Things like the dimmer and speed sensor. All things the aftermarket didn't support.
How can you expect an expert installer to get it right when even the companies that make the kits and supposedly do the engineering can't get it right.
ok first my viper alarm is the paging one. second i called up all the alarm places near by and they said they would do it without a problem. so i dont kow what u guys are talking about but its possible and no it wont go off when i dont want it to unless someone trys to touch it or what not.
my alarm can roll down the windows also, and u can buy different relays to make it do other things such as open doors, control the sunroof, and even the volume on ur radio can be adjusted....
