The 3800 Camaro would win. 5 more hp and about 70lbs-ft. Mid 7 sec car to 60mph I beleive.

i think you posted this under 2.2l performance and not war stories where it should be.

nonetheless, welcome.

I dont own a 2.2l ( got a 2.0L) but i do know that if its an automatic RS you should easily beat it. I Had a standard one and i got smoked by my friends 04 RSX-S. If you guys can keep up with an rsx-s. Then you should be able to beat the camaro, especially if its auto.

93-95 ( a few 96's) had 160hp 3.4L. A 2.2L 5 speed could easily take one.

95-02 200hp 225lbs-ft 3.8L

I still have my doubts about a 3800 V6 Camaro though. I have road tests and they say the 2.2L goes down.

well i dont know what avro is smoking cuz ive beaten my friends 00 rs camaro by a good car and a half length. those camaros may have more power but they also weigh alot more than our cars. he can throw it down into 3rd and catch up a little but i dont think that would do the trick.

a bad driver would make it all the more possible

I could see it with a good driver in the 2.2

Z24 get that video up I'd like to see it

racing isnt just about the car, its about the driver
ive beaten a few cars that are definitely faster
i took out a camaro v6, but the driver wasnt very good, it all depends

we are talking about an Acura RSX-S right? you know the one thats jus slightly slower than a RL and SS/SC

and a mildly modded (as in intake & exhaust) 2.2 can run with one? if thats true I better put on my helmet and go out hunting.

are we talking about a win because a driver sucks?

Or given the same driver--you say a 2.2L can beat a 3800 A4 Camaro?

Has anyone even got a 2.2L into the 15's yet?

I might be late in this conversation but this is my opinion...

Cobalt should win if he can drive well

1. Camaro weighs significantly more
2. V6 Versions are usually underpowered compared to what they are equipped with (meaning not enough power for the vehicles they put them in)
3. Automatic Transmission = More drivetrain loss. So on top of being underpowered, he's losing more power to the wheels than a manual version would
4. RWD losses more power to the wheels than FWD vehicles

How do youu measure "underpowered". A 3800 V6 Camaro makes 225lbs-ft of torque. Thats more then the S/C SS.

Check out the hp to weigh ratio.

2800/145= 19.3lbs per hp for a Cobalt

3400/200= 17lbs per hp for the Camaro.

Magazines got 7.7 to 60mph with an auto 3800 Camaro

You other points are valid.

I will say even the 2.2L should have more top end pull then the 3800--it could make gains there.

avro quit hating on the cobalts and supporting the slomaros. your telling me u think a auto camaro is faster than our manual 2.2L cobalts? and dont tell me ur not cuz u wouldnt be so defensive then.

there was a video posted up here awhile ago...of a stock 2.2 sedan with a stick running a 15.8.....I believe it was on streetfire..I dunoo....I'm honestly to lazy right now to go and look for it....but with a good driver u could dip into the high 15's....otherwise low 16's for an average driver.
