I bought a new 2009 Cobalt ls, 5 speed. The transmission had a problem with 4 gear since I bought it so I took it in and the rebuilt the trans... made it worse now every time you go to shift in to 3rd gear it scratches and they made 4th worse. Now they are ordering a brand new transmision. The fuel sending unit had to be replaced and they can not fix my miss fire code for the 4th time. Anyone know about the lemon law or how to play this out with the dealer to get either a new Cobalt my money back or maybe ever trade it for a used SS with low milage? Anyone know anything about this? Thanks yall.

as long as they continue to fix your issues, lemon law does not work. lemon law basically is useless nowadays because there are so many more things to our vehicles. however, if they cannot fix your issues within 30 days then you can have a new vehicle with the same milage or same style car.

^^agreed. Lemon laws are a pita on these newer cars. And unfortunately, they vary state to state on their conditions and how it's taken care of. I would suggest doing a search on google or go to ur local vehicle inspection establishment and find out what it is in ur area. Being that the car is so new, it should all be covered under your warranty anyway tho, so gl with it and keep us posted

both these comments are incorrect. Coming from someone who actually HAD a lemon law with my first cobalt I can help you out on either getting a new cobalt with the same or lower interest rate or get your money back

actually they arent. because i have had issues with my lemon law and i failed.

perhaps you pushed harder then someone else but either way lemon law is different in each state, im just posting based on lemon law of ny

just had an 08 tc get bought back at the stealership i work at. about 4-5 months ago he had it towed in, the shifter cable was broken. part was back ordered. when it did finally come in after about 2 months the cable couldnt be adjusted right; would hang up and wouldnt go in to 2nd unless u were at about 2500 rpm or less. needless to say we replaced the trans and clutch also. the guy came back several times about it since and gm bought it back last week

You need to talk to a lawyer if you REALLY think you have a lemon. And try to avoid arbitration, as arbitration routinely ends in favor of the manufacturer.

again, this is misleading and inaccurate. I handled my lemon law case without paying some lawyer to do what I could do...

well they "fixed" it. I'm goin to school to be a mechanic and I knew more about my car then the damn tech did. He was a decent fella and all but damn man 20 years as a tech and I had to go to the shop 8 times for a damn missfire!? Then ended up havin the top half of my fuckin motor rebuilt and I don't even have 11K on the car! I should have just kept my damn truck lol. God I miss that thing. I now a warrenty on it, bumber to bumber 100K no year experation either lol. Would be fantastic cept I was planin on buildin it to make it a bit more bareable for me to be in. lol Oh well shit happens.

gm offered to buy my car back, go back to the dealer and speak to a manager, u spent good money u deserve the right treatment...
