hey dood, let me ask a few questions cause i had something similar happen recently

now, when u pull the ebrake up, if u hold it up are the rear pads still pressing on the rear rotors??? or is the ebrake moving up and down light as a feather?

what happened to me was the ebrake would still press the rear pads down but the handle wouldn't lock into place, lol i used a pop bottle to prop the ebrake up for like 3 weeks b4 i finally stopped being lazy and went to get it fixed, under warranty, done within 1 hour very simple fix.

Ugh rooks, it's a parking brake. But you most certainly should get it checked out before your dealer leaves.

i wouldn't call it cheep, just random, i had mine for 5 months b4 it happened. I don't think it's a big deal personally, leaving the car is gear is natural to me, i do both, in gear and pull up the ebrake.

lol well i needed the e-brake up for certain spots i park in and sit for awhile, being -30 outside i wanted the car running for heat, leaving me to try and find a way to wedge the e-brake up..........pop bottle was the first thing i found lol

I dont know, it takes like 15 min to fix. And some people (me) don't trust people working on my car.

that's fair, personally i'm not very mechanically inclined so i stay away from anything of the sort. I'm also very lucky and i know most of the techs personally at the dealership i got the car from, i used to work there so it's made things much easier for me. The guy who fixed my ebrake used to own an ss/sc lol the exact one my best friend has right now, most work on my cobalt will be performed by him.

Happened about 3 times on my GT, some clip that attaches the cable to the brake mechanism undoes itself and needs to be re-clipped or something like that, that's how the dealer always explained the fix anyway. It takes 15 mins for them to do, in and out.

Is there a way to make the ebrake hold a bit quicker like instead of having to lift the ebrake all the way up and hope it holds its rare when i put the car on its ebrake I only do it when im in a hurry or warming up the car

it's fully adjustable, you can make it much tighter but there is a risk with it, over tighten it and you'll have the rear pads rubbing the rotors all the time that's very very very bad
