View Full Version : Stage Kits

Ok..

Now that the kits are out in stock... I think we should seriously considering all doing one thing so we can get a decent prices.. For those of us who are ready to get the KIT ASAP..

Now, that doesn't matter if it means we take a trip in the US.. So we could do 2 options with that.. We can bring that back with us and pay whatever duty we may get coming back... Or we can talk to some dealers around and see what they would be willing to offer if you buy so and so many kits...

Now we need to know who is seriously in on this.. And who has the $1000/$1500 (or Credit Card) available to get the stage kits (less depending on kit you want)... If your interested, but don't plan on doing it now or soon then don't bother.. If you don't have the money to get the kit anytime soon (or now) then dont bother..

Not trying to be sound rude about that.. But it really doesnt help/benefit to say yes I want one, but not planning on gettin one for a year.. It just sorta makes a big list of people and only half of them are getting the kit now..

So if we can figure out how to get these kits at the best possible price/way then lets do it up.. I will call some dealers around my area to see what they are say... Then come back and let you know what they will sell the kits for.. Who knows maybe the more peple we get, the lower they may offer them for..

Also do you think it would be better to get an intake and exhuast (etc) before you reflash the computer.. So that is recongizes the change.. Or do you think that the program only programs what GM's kit is suppose to change..?

Ok..

omg... not another stage kit thread...

#1 - Your not from the Ontario region.. And your not even Canadian.. So I don't even know why your posting in a thread starting a groupbuy

#2 - If you don't wanna read another stage kit thread, then why bother clicking it.. the titles says it all.. If you don't like it, then dont look.. Plain and simple. Man people like you are sorta annoying.. You hate something, but you still look, then when you look at the thing you hated already, you make a stupid comment.

#3 - If you have not noticed, the stages kits ARE out and being shipped.. So umm if your gonna say something about "omg, not another stage thread", then sorry but that would should be pointed in the direction of all the threads asking when they are coming out, or how long its gonna be, or he says this she says that dealer convos, prices from everyone, etc.. If you notice.. My post is about getting a better price on a part that is now availble.. It's a group purchase.. So your comment not only wasnt needed.. It also doesn't even make sense to say..

So if you have nothing to contribute or nice to say.. Then I suggest your stop poking into thread you know your gonna make an idiotic post in.

You sure about that? I just got off the phone w/ Kevin at GM HQ. He is the GMPP manager. He said they are not yet realesed.

Also just got of the phone w/ Golden Mile in Scarborough. An OCC sponsor.Price is $1025.00 + tax and install. I think if we get 4-5 guys together that will drop a little.Maybe get them to eat the tax?

Ok.. not sure.. That is the word that the kits are out and apprently some other people have put orders in. But again I cant be 100% sure either.. Now I think $1025 is a good deal as well.. I don't mind paying that..

The other problem is. I just called 2 different dealers around here.. They both told me the kit would kill the warrenty on the engine if the motor was to have internal problems.. Now I am not sayin the kit itself isn't under any kind of warrenty. But I was told that if any motorwise happens that they will not cover the warrenty..

Now Corby.. Since you know a manger for GMPP maybe you can find out the information a little better.

actually there are many dealerships that will retaain your warrenty if you get Them to install a GMPP, and that's what is most important. if the dealer ship will call it warrenty work then your ok, regardless of weather or not GM does.

which is why everyone tries to find a good dealer with service managers that don't mind mods

I sure as hell hope you're not reffering to Guy Fergusson, trust me performance parts have no warranty period, this has always been and always will be, it's even written in the performance catalog on the first page.

First page hey?.............hmmmmmmm.........(reading)...I can't seem to see that anywhere. It does state that the engines are covered by a full year warranty......(reading)..........nope.......nothin g like that on the numerous "first" pages I just read. ;)

I got prices for the stage kits from Fuccillo Chevrolet in Grand Island New York. These are list prices so if someone wants to go ahead and call them to work out a group buy you can go ahead.

Stage 1 = $500
Stage 2 = $750

Call them if you want. (716) 773-7505

I am going to buy Stage 1 today!

The way i see it is if you are going to put anything into your car, thats not stock its your own personal risk. Trying to rely on warranty is almost like you are to scared to put mods into the car. You want more power you gotta risk it. Just my opinion. Still deciding whethere to get stage one or two. As soon as I know, ill let you guys know if im in. I got money on hand at any time, so thats not a problem. Another question though, anyone got any mods at all on their car that are conisdering purchasing the kits? or you guys going stock to kits?

I would say they are all lying, but then again I didnt hear the dealership, the assistant zone parts manager, his boss the zone parts manager, and the GMPP manager make these claims. Hard to say who is lying? What I can tell you is you do retain your warranty. that is the idea of GMPP. If and when stage 3 comes out that is a different story as it is to be for offroad use only (meaning not on the street, for competition only). I know as this was a concern to me when I bought my car and they were selling me extended warranty. I have BUMPER TO BUMPER COVERAGE TO 100,000 K or 6 years! Yeah I wanted to know cause I knew I was getting a stage kit!

By the time to bring the states kits over from the US.. You risk getting charged a nice amount of duty. Then shipping on top of that.. Then TAXES you may be chagred (well I mean all the stuff the shipping company charges you)

Or, If you drive over.. Then it's a day of work and the fuel cost.. I could do it when I am over in my truck.. But I mean. What dealer would have them in stock for when I go over.. And just pick it up rather then order it..

I think $1025 is a good deal.. And if we get more people maybe they can cme down more

That makes no sense.

The kit is under warranty, but if you sustain damage to the engine due to the kit, there is no warranty?? WTF? that kind the POINT of a warranty am I right?
And how can GM not recomend a GMPP (General Motors Performance Part)??

To many contradictions there, I'd better speak to my dealership and get them to put it in writing they will honour my warranty.

No

The parts are under warrenty.. So if they break or whatever then they are covered.. BUT if they ruin your engine then they will not replace you motor cause a performance part cause it.. Same idea as an alarm or lowering ur car. If you put an alarm in the car and u have wiring problems and they figure the alarm caused it.. They will not cover it under warrenty.

Well

I emailed a guy who made a post on here awhile back.. Selling the stages kits in the Durham Area.. So I just got a email back and it was someone from a dealership right here in Whitby.. Nurse Chevrolet... Well he told me list is $1264 and install is $400... He said price on parts are negoitable.. But.. not install..

He is also telling me the parts have a 3yr/60,000km warrenty.. I emailed him back to make sure he isn't just talking about only have warrenty on parts. I am checking to see if the motor were to blow if GM will still fix the motor despite there upgrade kit.. So if he says its good.. Then I also ask him if they will sign a letter saying they told me the car remains with its warrenty on the engine despite the stage kit

So when he get back to me I will let you know some more info.. Who knows if use Durham guys get enough people.. Maybe we can go through them since its more local.

Well... Nurse is selling the kits for $1075 plus $400 for the install... So almost $1500.. I think he said plus taxes.. So over that...

They have done a couple installs there.. They are charging 4hrs to do the work.. As far as I can see tho.. The best way to go is with the company in the U.S and have it shipped.. Apprently with the duty and stuff.. It's still cheaper to go with them.. The company is CED right...

So I dunno.. It's gonne be about $750 cdn or something.. So thats $750 plus $400 for the install.. So your looking at about $1200 which is hella lot cheaper then going to the dealer.. So you save like $300

I am 20 mins from the border. I figure it will be worth my time and effort to pick up a stage 2 from Buffalo...however, no dealer here will comitt to a install cost.
Anyone buy a kit and have a different dealer install it ?
Also, If i buy the kit in Buffalo and have it installed there, would that mess my warranty?
thanks in advance

alrighty i ordered my stage 2 from crate engine depot....just a waiting game now...Its being delivered to buffalo as i live 20 mins from there.

PS

if anyone from southern ontario is interested i was thinking about picking up an extra kit or 2 and bringing them back with me when mine comes in....$1000 CAN taxes in with all the paperwork. I would deliver within those regions.

just a thought
