Guy is doing the right thing. Definately wrong what the dealership is doing. But at the same time, it happens all the time to a lot of people. Pretty sad actually.

This guy needs a good lawyer. That dealership has no right to go after him for freedom of speech.

u know whats funny i feel for the guy, but all gm dealerships r hurting for cash casue general motors company r at junk stock... so gm r giving away cars now and dealerships r getting less incentives to sell cars as before, there tring to save money general motors, people dont realisze there when saleman sell a car yea he/she has his %comm plus he may get his incentive bonus for selling the car,and dealer my get dealer incentive betweent 1000-1500 from gm.......now they had to cut all that to save genral motors i know this i used to work at gm, and they salemen whould get 500 bucks for selling a cobalt from gm and dealer whould get 1500 from gm this was in 2005 so im not sure what they get in 2006

this guy is an idiot, he got what he deserves. when you have an $800 car and they tell you it will cost $2000 to fix it, you take the $2000 and get another car and consider it an upgrade.

I wouldn't say that he deserved it, but he should have just bought another car. As a newspaper reporter, that would have made a compelling story and he could have really given the dealership some bad publicity...SO HE SHOULD HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER OR TV STATION!

Too bad, but you never drop more than what the car's worth in parts!

can you uncrack a carcked cylinder head? just by them saying they will "uncrack" it should kinda give it away that they are trying to scam him.

First of all, we're getting this guys side of the story only and a lot of the things he said don't add up.

Secondly, if you have a car in for a diagnostic and the car will not repeat the symptoms described with the diagnostic scanner hooked up then you have to look for signs of problems. In this case, the engine had a bad cylinder head gasket which does cause all the same symptoms he described. With any diagnostic, you have to fix the obvious problems first. And a cracked head is common on the pushrod 2.2 engines. For $2000, they replaced the head not "uncracked" it.

However, the service advisor should not have told him that this will fix his problem for sure. Of course, this is going by his story.

Free speech does not include slander by the way.

You get ripped off when someone replaces something you don't need. That car needed a head gasket no question.

in my opinion replacing and uncracking are 2 different things haha one of them involves welding and the other involves buying a new part.

This is why I wanted to buy a car with a warranty. You can't trust any mechanic unless you know them personally.
