Quick Tire Question

Ok, so I just got 4 new tires, just some Michelins cause my stock tires were bald and one got a flat.
But at the place they filled the tires up with 30 psi, because that is what the sicker in the door jam says, but I asked them since they are new tires shouldn't you follow what the tires say, which on them says max. press. 44 psi.
So I betting one of us are really stupid, so which one?
Thanks in advance guys!

max pressure is just that...the maximum allowed for that tire

you need to fill it to what is recommended for a specific car....all cars have different weights and other factors that determine tire pressure.

I always rode with a pound less pressure in order to have a slightly softer ride.

So no matter what tires I put on my car, I should always keep them at 30 psi?

no matter what the tire ride it at what the car maker recommends. like you were told, the sidewall pressure is for max load capacity for the tire of xxxxlbs at yy psi....
I figure 4 pounds or so less the car will ride softer, 4 pounds or so more the tires will last longer....and corner better
