Smashed plug = either detonation or the piston hit the plug. It is uncommon for a plug to just "break".
What do you have done to the car? What were you doing when the CEL came on? What type of plug? Is the bad plug black or white or another color? Does it look like any pieces of the plug are missing?
Chances are whichever cylinder the problem occured in is toast.

the plug is pushed up does not look like any part of it broke all 4 plugs were black and there the stock ones i was sitting in the car in a parking lot at idle when it happened just started vibrating then i tryed to drive home cel came on and stalled out

thats what i was thinking when he said the plug was bent
rnjmur 03-25-2009, 04:03 PM I'd like to see a picture of the plug, sounds like the piston hit the plug though. What plugs were you using? It is strange for something like this to have happened at idle.

thats what im saying i dont think the plug bent at idle though it started vibrating really hard and i had no way to get home so i tryed to drive it thats when the plug bent i think and i had the stock plugs in the ac delco ones
rnjmur 03-25-2009, 05:01 PM i should probably mention that the past 2 weeks i have been getting a cel for running to rich
Hmmm... sounds like you may have lost compression or the plug fouled 2 weeks ago. I would do a compression test on the cylinders and see if they are still holding compression. If #3 has lost compression it is time to do a rebuild. If all the cylinders, especially #3, are still holding compression you maybe lucky and if the plug was actually fouled 2 weeks ago you may have just ruined the CAT.
Are you running any mods? NO2? CAI? A CAI can cause a too rich code, especially if there is a leak after the MAF. If you are running NO2 or a SC or turbo you should probably be running a colder plug then the stockers.

 see above............
when i took it to them i only had a lsj downpipe and catback now i have a cai, ca header, and a zex wet kit with a 75 shot
rnjmur 03-26-2009, 10:43 AM I totally missed where the mods were listed... sorry... lol.
Is the black on the plug oily or powdery?
It looks like you are running WAYYYYYY rich or you are leaking ALOT of oil into that cylinder. Judging by the damage to the plug, you definately need to do a compression test and pull the head off. I don't think the piston hit the plug, but it looks like something may have been loose in the combustion chamber. You may have chipped a piston or it maybe the rings... hard to really tell without taking a look inside. I can't tell much else because the plug is fouled too badly, but it looks like the plug might have been too hot as well.
You have two options.
1. Remove the NO2 system, remove the CAI and put at least the stock header or LSJ header back on. Then, take the car to the dealer and try and get them to check it and fix it under warranty.
2. Tear the engine apart or take it to a shop and have them tear it down and check it out. More than likely you are looking at having to do a rebuild, at least on that one cylinder.
jbenso4 03-26-2009, 10:52 AM damn good luck with everything man...are you still going to be coming out on sunday with the other car?
pykie 03-26-2009, 11:02 AM when i put the 1 stage colder plugs in my car the plug threads were shorter then the stock ones... maybe you only need a stage colder plug?
jbenso4 03-26-2009, 11:04 AM Were you on the juice when it went?
rnjmur 03-26-2009, 12:08 PM Were you on the juice when it went?
She said that it was at idle when it happened... I am thinking that there must have been damage, possibly from detonation, and it just finally gave out.

im deffanetly a he my gf took the pics lmao i told her that someone would think i was a girl  the plug had a powdery black on it my guess is its carbon all of them were like that i am going to do a compression test tomorrow now that i changed the plugs the car idles fine but when i tryed to drive home i got a block down the road and it died out it sounds like a wrx right b4 it dies out

Ahh... LOL
If it sounds like a WRX chances are there is damage somewhere. Either pistons, rings or maybe a valve.
If it is sooty black then you are definately running WAY rich. It is normal to have a little carbon around the edges, but not that much.
jbenso4 03-27-2009, 01:12 AM yeah man i hate to say it but youre pistons shot
blue 2.2 03-27-2009, 02:29 PM well i think its time for a rebuild i just pulled the new plug out and its smashed like the old one im gonna try to take it to the dealer and see what they say
jbenso4 03-27-2009, 02:31 PM good luck bud...letme know if u need to sell the juice for some money if they dont warantee it
blue 2.2 03-27-2009, 02:33 PM good luck bud...letme know if u need to sell the juice for some money if they dont warantee it
ya im thinkin i have to but will see its only the one piston but if it has to be done and they wont warrenty it im doin it the right way
jbenso4 03-27-2009, 02:36 PM keep in touch and lemme know how it goes
blue 2.2 03-27-2009, 04:00 PM trying to look at my options right now and i was wondering if a 05-06 block would work in my car with the 07 head
umrdyldo 03-27-2009, 04:03 PM trying to look at my options right now and i was wondering if a 05-06 block would work in my car with the 07 head
It would be a tuning nightmare. Does that help?
blue 2.2 03-27-2009, 04:33 PM It would be a tuning nightmare. Does that help?
yes it does lol
jbenso4 04-01-2009, 01:06 PM did u take it to a shop yet
shawn672 04-01-2009, 02:29 PM don't take it to bob johnson's chevy, they'll void your warranty for anything..see it happen every day
hugemurph4 04-01-2009, 02:32 PM you probably blew it up from the no2 good possibility but i hope u get that fixed
blackbolt89 04-01-2009, 02:43 PM don't take it to bob johnson's chevy, they'll void your warranty for anything..see it happen every day
legally by law they cannot void a warranty over an aftermarket part unless they can PROVE that the part in question caused the failure. don't let them say your parts did it unless they can prove to you how it caused the problem.
i have a wheel bearing problem and i'm dying to see what they have to say about my 2.4 mani, intake and catback. lol
jbenso4 04-01-2009, 02:57 PM don't take it to bob johnson's chevy, they'll void your warranty for anything..see it happen every day
yeah bob johnson sucks lol
BlackCobalt707 04-01-2009, 04:45 PM i hope you took off the nitrous before you took it in. that should have been the first thing you did when you took it in.
turbo08ss 04-01-2009, 04:47 PM who put in the 75 shot i bet thats ur promblem
shawn672 04-01-2009, 07:08 PM any moron can PROVE n2o CAN cause premature engine failure, transmission issues, and as a result of pushing the engine harder, this can cause other parts to be pushed harder then they were 'designed' for..VOIDED
like i said, they do it everyday and its perfectly legal
if you mess with the drivetrain, any part of it, they can prove you were the cause of the failure. someone changed the tip on their exhaust, and ~20k miles later their transmission started slipping, they voided their 5yr/100,000mile drivetrain warranty because they installed a non-gm part by a non-gm technician, and it effected their drivetrain (they went on to claim the tip was not installed properly and caused more restriction on the exhaust, which caused the exhaust gases to flow in a way that is not designed, and it caused greater stress on the engine and transmission) Voided :wave
edit: i wasnt bashing Bob johnsons, they have some amazing techs/writiers/salesman there, but they do not like aftermarket at all and will void your warranty in a heartbeat to make a buck..and GM is aware of this, and agrees with what the dealership is doing
blue 2.2 04-03-2009, 01:27 PM ya im not takein it in i dont even have a warrenty any more it was up at 36000 miles o well im pulling the head right now so i will let you know the aftermath haha my friends are tryin to talk me into puttin a vr6 in it lmao they have a complete doner car here at the shop and want to do it it sounds tempting but the work i would have to do would be horriable
