Anyone who has never been on a roadcourse, with this car you should
I made a post in the autocross and roadracing, but I figured I would share in here as well.
I have spent the last two saturdays at the local road course to Toronto. It's a 3 km (1.87 mile) 11 turn course. 150-160km/hour on the straights. Not a long course but quite reasonable.
Anyways, this Cobalt is absolutely amazing on the track. Like I am absolutely blown away by how well it performs. Brakes are incredible, two full days never faded at all, (besides the fact that the rear rotors are going to wear out pretty quick, they still work just fine)
The balance of the car is great, I found the the conti's take a little time to get some heat in them but once they do the car does what you want, I was quite able to get the rear end rotating nicely and holding through the corners. Turn in is exceptional, point and shoot. Power is good, too good for this course. Some of the corners are slower speeds and a little tight, overpowering the front wheels is much to easy an a more open course this thing will fly. I am definitely investing in some stickier track only tires.
Now for the cars I managed to have some fun with, two weeks ago it was a small group only 6 people showed up.
Seriously dissapointed owners of a 09 Audi TT S and a 08 BMW M3 with a horrible driver could not believe it.
This Saturday was more fun though, a local Civic club was there with about 6 or so cars, mostly civic hatches. Didnt even have to try to get past them they were moving chicanes.
The real fun was with the two 08 and 09 Subaru STI's that were there. Turn in, corner speed, braking and straight line power the cobalt wins. The only reason that car is faster than the SS/TC (at that track at least) is that in slow speed corners it can actually put the power on the ground. One of them was somebody I didnt know, he couldnt keep up, the other one was being piloted by a friend of mine who races in the Grand Am series, he was able to get away, BARELY, but hes a professional so I would hope so. He also hates the STI haha.
Overall I just have to recommend that you all get out on a road course and see what this car is actually capable of because it is truly impressive.
Now, im waiting to get some slicks or R compound rubber, and a tune of some sort (GM upgrade or otherwise) also hoping someone develops some kind of suspension package for the TC. With a tune and tire I am really interested to see what I will be able to keep up with.
Cliffs: Road course, do it.

No reason for 2 threads, especially when one is in the wrong section
