Err..I wouldn't be surprised if they did cut the roof off after they make sure the scene is safe for paramedics to get in there - like disconnecting the battery, etc
Yeah this happened right around the block from me. I saw the car right after he hit the pole and they closed down the road. He was going about 80 and went across traffic sideways, hit the curb, got airborne and hit the pole 5-6ft up on the drivers side. car was completely around it and it cracked the pole. He was in my grade, a senior in highschool.
I don't think anyone except that one guy truly thought the roof was sheared in the accident. I was just sayin the fact that the car was 5' off the ground at impact is more telling to the circumstances than the roof being cut.
Heres an SUV for you:

Im a paramedic, this is a call I had. The SUV was stolen, and when the police attempted to pull the guy over he decided to run down narrow suburban streets at speeds over 60mph. While trying to make a turn he rolled it into someones house landing on his roof. While we were extricating him, the police pulled a gun and $10,000 worth of drugs from the car.
I was suprised with how well the Tahoe actually handled the rolls.
