Check on tirerack.com. If they are listed as a fit for the 09 Cobalt SS, they will fit.

Well, I ordered a White SS. So my plan was to get the calipers powder coated red, then get the gunmetal gray wheels...what do you guys think?

im not sure on the actual stock size, but youl want to go at least 215/40 on them. i have 225/40s on mine

225/40's (stock size) will work fine on 18x8 wheels. look in BLACK SS/SC 06's image gallery. He has 225's on his EKM3's.

20's will ride like ****, make your car accelerate slower, and increase your stopping distance while decreasing brake rotor and pad life spans. You are also pretty much guaranteed to bend them at some point. 19's are as big as I would go on a Cobalt. Look through the 19's thread that is stickied. I think you will agree they are plenty big. I have 19's on the way for my car.

Lowering is a must for looks and handling. The Stock SS/SC springs are too soft. I put mine back on for the winter and I can't stand them. I want SS/TC springs or Eibach Prokits for next winter.
