92 Prelude JDM vs 06 Cobalt SS Stage 2

here's the situation i was in neguac last night, went to party with my work buddy from up there and his friends... so it's 4am, 5am... of course we're drunk and outside having a smoke... and we get into the conversation of who can beat who 1/4 mile style...

then we do something really stupid... i take the prelude for a test drive (him in the passenger seat) he takes the SS for a test Drive (me in the passenger seat) ... so all night he's like i'm pretty sure i can take your Cobalt ... i'm like will see ... so yeah the Prelude is fast i'll give him that ... but didn't quite feel like my SS ... so i'm like yeah nice ride it could probably give me a run ... 5 seconds in the SS ... he's freaking out ... holy **** man this car is sick i didn't think it had this much power and so on ... so for about 15 minutes ... he's like oh yeah your SS is taking my Prelude .... then he went back to my prelude can beat the SS lol ... so it was fun to friends going back and forth ... kinda talked about it this morning but the headache were too bad ...

so who do you guys think would win ... heres the mod list

92 Prelude JDM:
H22A JDM Dyno Tuned 220HP
CAI Injen
Skunk2 Full Exhaust

06 Cobalt SS/SC
GMPP extruded and honed exhaust manifold
GMPP Stage 2 Supercharger Kit
Custom GMPP touring Catback
2.8inch Supercharger Pulley
ZZP downpipe with cat
Injen Cold Air Intake

does are the power mods...there both lowered, Strut Bar, rolling on 18, low profil tires...and so on lol

That prelude might have 220 CRANK HP, definatly not whp. Your car went 13.6@105mph with street tires when Martin owned it. My buddies 91 Civic hatch, with a b16 tranny, which weighs a heck of alot less went a best of 13.6@99 on slicks and power shifted, So I say you handily win!!!

There is no way it's near 220 whp. I would have left out the drunk thing.

haha, i love these uneducated comments..can you prove any proof behind that statement? Wait let me quess the people are gonna say IDC on those injectors...when that means crap. its injector pulse width that matters

Most blow there cars up with 60's as opposed to the stage 2 setup

Was that under boost? if so than something is wrong with that reflash, gm stage tunes are mid 10's under wot, no matter what pulley is on, its what the ecu has as a commanded a/f ratio, common misconception is that adding a smaller pulley leans the a/f ratio out, not true, it is based on what the PE enrichment settings are on the flash. The only way to go leaner is to adjust the tune, or have broken or faulty sensors, that give the PCM the wrong readings.

Yes 15.3 A/f under wot is scary lean, motor wont last long like that

BTW his car has had a 2.8" pulley for like 3 years with zero issues, it gets run on the track, so its not babied...held up fine

I am not trying to be critical of your post, its just this IDC issue with stage 2 has been going on for years on this forum, with no proof...injector pulse width is the major factor in injectors going static.

I also ran a 2.8" pulley on stage 2 tune for 2 years, zero issues

I did have a wideband when i had my stage 2 and 2.8..always in the 10's a/f wise...well actually starts in the 11's than goes 10's in the upper rpms

tru 2.8 never gave me issues only reason i took it off was for warranti purposes ... just never put it on since i never really needed it ... most ppl refused to race me where i live ... and my A/f no clue ... my wideband is screwed

Well the PO lied. The car isn't 220WHP and capable of a 14.1 with just an intake, exhaust and tune.

well i didnt really feel like reading everyones posts on this so here i go.
the Prelude is a VERY heavy car, the JDM H22A motor can easy make the 220 wheel horse power with the right tune, but dyno tune means nothing, you want both dyno and street tune so you know its safe.
also you got to remember horse power is not what gets you down the track. its the torque.
i will use damien for an example, he makes 243whp and 219 tq, i made 217whp and 213 tq, me and damien could race and i could stick with him, he would beat me yes, but not by much our tq is only 6 foot pounds in difference.
i always thought it was all about the hourse power too, but then a friend of mine said whats gonna get you down the track? hp, or tq? i said hp, and said no! its the tq. with out the tq your not going no where!
now the problem honda motors have is that they have HORABLE tq. he prob has 220whp, but 135tq, so all in all you would beat him time after time!
and he has V Tec, when v tec kicks in i seen this on dyno, its a 20whp or more gain right there!

If that H22A is tuned for his mods and you are just on a S2 flash, then from a roll I'd say a really close yet good race. If he is not tuned, then it's all you.

the day i lose a race i will just get out turn the boost up **** it! lol
right now im running between 11.3 and 12.5 WOT i have 2 exhaust leaks witch is ******* my A/F up

Leave the heavy flywheel for one. new clutch can help that too.
other then that i really dont know.
when you put a light weight flywheel on your car you lose Tq.

It's more than that, you also have to factor in gearing and whatnot.

You gearing is more agressive than a LS/LT. Look how the gearing of the new SI's make there low TQ numbers efficient.

well for one we're actualy doind a legit 1/4 mile ... on the drag strip in miramichi when it opens ... roads down here are to bad and cops up there a to bad ... so we're going to do it on a track ...

and the torque thing makes a lot of sense ... but befor me and him race i might be tuned and running meth lol

You should smoke him. I've lined up against your car on the highway comign back from gagetown and you were pulling away just a little. I've raced guys with H22 swaps, one in a civic, one in an accord, they both had intake, headers, full exaust and a tune and all the did is just hook better than me on the launch and pull ahead for 1 second and then I get traction in 2end gear and fly by them. From a roll I just destroy them. So yeah, your gonna win, lol.
