2.0= 18" Rims, Tighter Suspension, Available racing seats, "Short Shifter", reverse lockout?, Limited Slip Differential available, i wouldnt reccommend this for a first car.... go with a clunker, already one 16 year old who totalled his, at least....

yeah if ur just 16 and dont have a lot of experience driving i would suggest a clunker too. My first car was a clunker (89 Corsica) then a year later i started getting better cars. (99 Z24, 04 Mazda6S, now my 05 SS S/C). All the times ive been out cruisin around and the kids who just got their license are out.....they just dont know how to drive (and get in the way). just my opinion.

i would have to agree also...putting a 16 yr old kid behind the wheel of any cobalt can't be good.... everyone gets into an accident when they are young... get a POS car, that way when you hit a light post in your 92 neon it doesnt really matter

fast car + 16 yr old kid = NEVER GOOD

maybe he didn't just learn to drive? I learn when I was 11, I was racing mini coopers at 14, the only road accident I have ever had was in a blizzard when I slid off the road and hit nothing. However if mommy is buying the car for you do her a favor and get a beater, when you are an adult enough to buy a nice car with your own money you'll appreciate it more

Well, you will have more power under the hood... good for hotrodding around. A bigger wing means that it is harder to see out the back, so forget about using your rearview mirror. Also, you will get a lot of people who want to race you at lights... there's a good time. And your insurance (or your mothers) will be more expensive.

You know, on second thought, at 16 you are too young for an SS/SC. If I was your parent you would be driving a base cobalt with a 2.2L engine, nevermind a 2.4L SS.

Please give this up, already. Don't make it sound like you have been driving all your life. You still have very limited experience on the road. And you are not ready for a faster car.

NO SS/SC FOR YOU!

Most 22 year olds don't make a lot of money. Insurance for you will be very expensive. Why not be a grateful kid and pay for your own insurance. Then you will see value in cheaper cars.

IMO, 17 is too young for a SS/SC. Yes, i agree you probly do need a new car for some reliable transportation, and it is very commendable that you have the means to afford a car at the age of 17. however i believe that people at that age dont posess the driving experience and or self discipline to safely operate a higher performance vehicle. the temptation to race and drive erratically is what causes alot of accidents in teenage drivers. the remainder of accidents left to driver error and lack of experience in the many diverse conditions in which one will encounter on the roadways.

My vote is get a 2.4 SS if you insist on the SS badge.

I had a turbo cavalier at 16-17 that is much faster than my SS S/C and I have never gotten a ticket of any kind (knocks on wood). If you trust yourself to be responsible with it than go for it. For you insurance isn't an issue so the initial cost is all that matters.

ill agree with you..

In many ways i do say 16 is to young for this type of car, However it is more based on the type of person you are and how you are. If you are able to control yourself and dont give in to weakness (you will have alot of friends wanting you to do stupid stuff in this car.. trust me) then thats fine.. I believe the mental ability of the person > Age of the person.. i was 19 with a 650rwhp 5.0 stang that I built and have never had an accident..
but age isnt the deciding factor.. i know people in there 40s that shouldnt be driving something other then a golf-cart with bumpers all around because they suck at driving. Only you know what type of driver you really are and how you are.. if you have to lie to yourself about how you are when you drive and such.. then this is prolly not the car you wanna get because you will **** yourself up

It all depends on how well you drive because this car hauls and you will not be able to resist stomping the gas all the time.

But don't listen to all the people telling you no, you have to sit back and make that decision on your own. Can you handle this car?

damn you guys are lucky, driving at such young ages, at 16 all I can do is drive with my parents in the car. At least thats how it is in NY I dunno about else where. As for my ideas for a first car, i wanna get a nice used one, like my perfect plan would be a used 2.4 auto, iv never drove a stick and dont really plan on getting one for an everday driver. to answer your question, I think a SS/SC is too young for kids like us, (im 16 as well) it costs a decent ammount, and the insurance would be more cus its an SS, but it all depends on what kind of money you have and how you personally feel about it.
