It isn't part of the bumper itself... If you look underneath you will see that each piece has a peg at each corner. These pegs need to slide to the side slightly while applying pressue to the mesh. Push the mesh out. They are a little difficult to get out the first time because they are pretty snug, but they simply pop back in when finished. I actually recommend popping them out every now and then because of the amount of dirt that gets lodged between the mesh and the car.....

I wouldn't do it bro, but if it's clean and it's what you want it wouldn't look ghetto or anything, just not my taste.

What color is the car? I painted mine black... It looks really good with the rest of the black accenting I have and it isn't too far from stock so it flows really well... I wouldn't go gloss black.... I chose satin black for mine (no clear coating either!).... I have some before (front grill) and after pics (front grill/rear meah) in my FCOTM submission if you want to see what it looks like... Also, if you decide to do this I actually don't recommend sanding... The scoring shows up really badly (because the pieces are already textured) and it will require a lot to cover it up (won't look good)....

Awww, I was hoping for some nice custom metal work

I agree with Nakaiya21, flat or satin black....would look so much better than that shitty greyish crap the factory gave us
