Cobalt SS Launch Control vs. 2010 Corvette Launch Control

I know many people here don't like the launch control on our cars, but this guys makes a strong argument for how useful it can be on the 2010 Corvette unless you are a professional driver. Thoughts on how similar or different the two systems are (other than one being front and one being rear wheel drive)...?

i think it works pretty well in both cars if you dont know how to launch

the corvettes is probably way better b/c it doesnt have to worry about fwd lol

Do you guys think that they chose 5,100 RPM on the Cobalt to give the optimum point where you get a bit of wheel spin but still gets you the best time?

Also, it sounds like the Corvette uses a bit of traction control to help with the best wheel spin...does the Cobalt do that too? I was under the impression that there was no TC help at all when using launch control...

I would actually say it's the reverse of this. Corvette is easier to launch so it doesn't need launch control as much. I believe a good driver could beat the system in either case. However now that I've played around with launch control a bit, it's actually pretty fun and consistant- especially on inconsistant roads. I also figured out that at first I was doing it wrong, if you dump the clutch it bogs- but if you stay on it too long it spins too much. There is a happy medium to lift the clutch.

I would like to know if there is a difference as well vs the corvette system. And 5100....Humm, mine sits under 5k, I figured around 4800 rpms. Now if it was an adjustable limiter I would really like that, I still think 4800rpms is just way too much wheel spin, I did the launch 1 time once tuned, it was wheel hop city, I havent tried it since getting the OTTP mounts though, but still it just feels hard on the car lol

I believe there are 3 ways the the traction control can use to modulate wheel spin: apply brakes, reduce timing, or limit boost with the BOV. Launch control is simply an algorythm designed into the traction control system to achieve the desired wheel speed (front wheels spinning slightly faster that rear wheels in our cars).

In that video, they make it sound like dumping the clutch is the best route...
