Which Tires? (UHP summer tires for 18" wheels)

I'm finally picking up my wheels next Friday. I've decided to go with the 18" MOMO Corse Rev in Anthracite from DiscountTire since they are on clearance. Here's a link to my other thread about which wheels should I get:

MOMO Corse Rev's in Anthracite

Anyway, I'll be purchasing tires in another month or two for them. I plan to have the wheels on before August so I can get a couple months on them this summer.

The tires I'm looking at are (all in 225/40/18):
  1. BF Goodrich g-Force Sport
  2. Yokohama S.drive
  3. General Exclaim UHP

Do you think I should go with one of these or is there something else that would be a better and/or cheaper alternative? I'm looking to spend no more than $150/tire if possible.

The reason I'm looking into these tires is that I have a set of 15" steelies for winter with Hankook Winter iPike tires. I want a summer only tire for better handling. I'm looking at something for MN summers...dry weather or rainy weather...must have good rain handling abilities.

My last tires were the g-force sports - good traction but not uber sticky. A bit noisy. Rides a little rougher than some. (hard compound i think?) But overall EXCELLENT practicality for your $$$. Will last a long time.

You dont want the generals. ugh.

Cant go wrong with the Yokos! I like the S drives, should have many of the same attributes as the BFG's but possibly be a little softer/stickier.

whats wrong with the generals? i had them on my audi with no problems what so ever... but then again i was awd and didnt really have a tire spin issue unless it was raining and i was purposely trying to fishtail it : )

I've heard tons of back and forth on the General's, but almost only positive about the other tires...I can get the Exclaim UHP's for only $87 each on treadepot.com, otherwise I'm looking at $130-150 at TireRack and DiscountTire/DiscountTireDirect.

This is afterall a 2.2L with minimal mods...just want handling for now. Wouldn't the General's be good enough? I'm a spirited driver most of the time if that makes a difference.
