goin 2 teh moon brb
so i went to heartland park topeka today for some "sprited" road course driving.
get there. 3/4 tank of gas. full tank of meth. good to go. 3.1 pulley on a dumbed down richer than normal tune. first 5 laps. track is wet in some spots. no biggie. instructor gets in a friends car and drives it for him. slow pace at first. picking up a bit lap after lap. come back in the pits after 5. car is peachy still. this jolly fat man jumps in my car. crap. out of all the things someone should do is grab the wheel in a corner. he does this. i am not happy about it. come back in after 5. i am alone this time. fantastic. getting used to the track, the car, braking lines and such. realized i had the fastest car in the group in terms of straight line speed. duh. not pushing it hard. more or less using the straights to my advantage a lot.
an older guy in a del sol {b-series} was out there having fun. screamed by him in the passing zones. shot a fireball as i passed him. come up to a guy on the back straight in a crossfire. he really did not want to let me around. so i tale him closer than he liked apparently. got to the front straight and opened the throttle early and started rolling smoke off the tires as i passed him. he got a fire ball too. hitting 121-123 right before alpha zero/end of the straight. engine brake the crest, back into the throttle. trail braked hard into corner 2. up the hill in 3rd around a quick corner wot. braked again, right hand turn in 3rd. throttle it. brake hard due to water, drop to second, tight left hander. wot in 2nd till 7600, shift, right hand, then a left. back into the throttle on the back straight, slight kink to the left. fireball, hammer the brakes due to 115 mph speeds. right turn, roll into the throttle hit the paex of the slight left hander at wot. brakes again. left hander in third. swing it wide, drop to second, goose the throttle, left hand onto the front straight. come out wide carring a lot of speed. hit 3rd. fireball. hit 4th, fire ball.
bow i could have kept it in 3rd and zing it to 8k. but not a wise idea.
afr sitting at 11.0. egt's at alpha zero 1290. boost at 7600. 22psi.
brakes. cooking
tires, warm and gooey
meth. running on empty time for race gas!
final runs i pushed a lil harder.
this was my day. time for new pads, lines, fluid. rest of still good to go.
car ran flawlessly all day. under decel and in boost. not much in between. never got above 183 degree's. dunno what iat's were. didn't want to know.
suspension mods?
stock struts
ssc springs
prs/ott rear sway. 1.0 {you honestly do not need the bigger bar. car runs flat and hard with the smaller bar.}
capitol UHP 225/40/18 tires
msr wheels +38 offset.
with me in the car on the scale it was 3152lbs
if you have ever wanted to road race. do it. it is a blast, but be prepared. if you are not ready for it and push to hard. you will get bit bigger than ****. i spent about 200 bucks today. 100 for the track time and membership fee. 80 on fuel, and 20 on misc crap.
ebc greens worked for a while then got spongy. just had to make due with what i had.

up to 20 cars are allowed per round
here is a vid of the course i was on

wow, great detail for driving event..... I felt like i was in the car!
I gave drag racing up over 13 years ago when I got out on my first road course, I knew then that even a 9 second car couldnt compare to being out on a good long track for 45 minutes at a time...

Why in the hell did the instructor (it was an instuctor right?) grap your wheel?? I did some instructing before but never had to do THAT in a students car.
Also maybe a silly question, but what is a "fireball"?

fireball in my definition is simple. the wot box i have kills spark, but dumps fuel. meth is still spraying. fuel is ignited by the heat of the exhaust and screams out the ass end in a shotgun blasting fireball fun.
same thing rotary motors do when they load up on fuel on decel.
because he wanted me to run his line. well. guess what. fwd cars on street radials and abnormal amounts of torque more or less make up their own lines.

But seriously, if the instructor is any good (yeah you can bad ones too) his job is to show the student the safest way around a race track and in most cases THAT is the fastest anyway. Over powered cars (front or rear drive it does not matter) with no traction (like yours) in the hands of a rookie driver can be VERY VERY dangerous on a fast track! I.ve personally seen cars go off on Mospot T2 because of students not listening to instructors...
Please do not take my comments the wrong way, last thing I want is to read about a Cobalt owner hurting himself or his car on a road course.
That fireball sounds pretty cool

he didn't do his job. however. i did follow the line of a more experienced driver out there in an equally fast srt4. so i got a decent line to work off of
