If it goes bad, you are looking at pulling the tranny again. Worth saving a few bucks now?

Nah, didn't think so. Even doing my own labour, my time is worth more than that.

Bigger problem seems to be the slave cylinder. It comes complete with tob so you would be doing both.

If you have stripped the torx heads out, what I did was took a tapered bolt and tack welded it into the head of the stripped out torx. That let me back it out with a 13mm socket instead of a crappy torx bolt. When I went to replace the bolt I replaced them with stainless steel Allen headed bolts. I got them at my local hardware store.

Wish I knew to change mine before the engine/trans were reinstalled. I just got my car running 2 weeks ago, lol. And mine is causing clutch chatter

we took a cutting wheel and ground a little slot for a big flat headed screwdriver, and got the one that was seized out that way.

Welding sounds like a better way if you have access to the equipment though.

I changed mine because they're susceptible to failure and they changed part numbers between the OEM ones that came in the tranny and what they provide at the dealer now.

as quoted...

for the extra cost I did it, and in the process found that I had a lot of excess play in my bearing compared to the replacement. Happy with my decision.

List price is like $100, probably $70-80 online (for TC, LSJ may vary)

I paid around $90 for my SS/SC, and my bearing had some play after 36,000, so I would advise it.

I got mine from the local clutch shop that rebuilt my pressure plate and clutch disc. I dont know if it was GM or not, it looked the same but had no packaging, so I assume it was non-GM

I printed out the price from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ and took it to my dealer and they price matched for me so you should try that. i think it was about $90.

I have the Spec stage 3+. I didn't replace the TOB. Big mistake. Replace it with the new one that the dealerships have in the parts department. It's worth it. Don't do as I did and take GM's advice. In the buildbook it says that the bearing is durable and shouldn't need replacing. It lied. Replace the bearing and slave cylinder. The green boot will fail. I know because I had it happen. I have the failed part to reference too. I was lucky that GM covered it under warranty. They wanted to claim the clutch caused the failure. Fortunately, my tech argued otherwise and the service manager said okay. Don't make the mistake I did.

This is exactly why GM covered my bearing under warranty. Thankfully my tech was on it.
