So this weekend I went for a drive into the mountains with my girlfriend to Banff, AB.

The trip was 599kms (372m) round trip and I did it on 1 tank! (see pics below) For about 500 of those kms I was doing 120kmph (75mph) and the rest was bumming around Banff in second gear because thier speed limit is only 40kmph (24mph)

My mods are 2.8 60# injectors, exhaust, etc.

So here's proof of what a tuned lsj can acheive :D

*notice how I still have 1/8 of a tank left!!

6.0L/100km is 40mpg

Before I got into the city I was averaging 5.7 which is around 43mpg.

Thanks!

I'll admit I was really impressed.

what helped u savegas ??

My car is tuned. If I keep my foot out of it, it is amazing on fuel.

Keep in mind too, at that average hiway speed is not even the optimal speed for fuel economy. The general concensus is at 100kmph (60mph) is the best for fuel economy. If I had of done that I would be close to 50mpg!

Holy hell that's awesome. On this last tank I've been getting 11.5-12... that's 100% city + driving like a dumbass. I'm glad to get into the 9's. Damn I want a tune.

Damn, not too shabby :twothumbs
Wish my 08 would show tenths on the dic......only get whole numbers when on inst on metric :( Shows tenths on the average though.

Tune is going to make you want to walk on it even more, don't think you will see a gain in mileage ;) Get out on the highway and a good tune can work wonders

I hope you calculated this yourself, and didn't use the cars algorithm. It won't take new injectors into account, so it thinks you're burning less fuel. You did pick up quite a bit for sure though.

Driving like an asshole in my 2.2l gets me ~14mpg on avg. Good stuff lol.

You can get close to this without a tune of any kind. I had a trip from Edmonton to BC last year where I averaged 6.2 L/100 km. I also was far from babying it with speeds around 120 km/h being the norm. Very, very rare that my car is over 10 L/100 km though, except in the winter.

I'd love to see what I could average with a good tune!

You realize that 350 miles is 563 kilometers, right?

right now I'm averaging 25.8mpg on the DIC and that's with a mix of gunning it and babying it.

the highest mine has ever gone was 26.2!

I get about 310miles before the 1/8th tank hits!

I get like 27mpg-ish, with a good amount of it being WOT; likewise, babying it, I get like 30mpg, so It's not even a big deal to me.

Ever since I got my CAI, it seems like it guzzles gas more, but whatever.

heh, yea these puppies can get real high mpgs. coming back from the hamptons on a hot summer day last summer, cruising at about 65mph with the a/c on, i managed very high mpg. i reset it the moment i hit 65mph, set the cruise, watched it fluctuate between 43 and 38 and the final average when i reset it, before slowing down as i didn't want 99.9 or infinity mpg averaged in due to coasting with no fuel, was.... 40.4mpg!

lean burn closed loop ftw :)

just took a trip to florida with some friends, so with me, plus 2 other people in the car and a trunk full of luggage i was able to get about 31 avg on the highway. but i set the cruise control at 75. not too bad if ya ask me. i usually get about 26 around town.

when you get new injectors and a tune, does the computer take this into consideration in calculating mpg? i assume it would, because the computer has to base how much fuel goes in order to function properly. not sure if it were to base mpg on stock injectors, hence the ?

It doesn't matter what kind of mods you have. The computer calculates the distance driven and the amount of fuel used from the tank to calculate the MPG. There is also a sensor near your injectors (this sensor doesn't care which kind of injectors you have, it simply measures total flow). Obviously some mods are going to make you use more gas, so more fuel will be used, thus changing your total MPG.

So to answer your question, while the computer doesn't necessarily "adjust" for new mods it doesn't have to.

Tune won't matter but bigger injectors will throw the dic off. It is using the injector duty cycle and calculating fuel flow based on the stock injectors. Go to injectors that can flow 50% more than the stock units and the dic will think you are putting 33% less fuel through the engine.

Not sure if you can adjust this in the ecm tune or if the numbers are crunched by the bcm.

I am averaging 26.3mpg this week, I'd say 70% city driving and 30% highway driving. Light driving, with the occasional WOT run in 2nd.

When I had around 10,000 miles on my 07 SS 2.0, I was out high altitude driving about 85-90 MPH and was getting 41! I have a video from my cell that I saved. I will see if I can download it and post it. I think I was listening to Tool!

2 years ago i drove down to Carlisle PA and averaged 37MPG with a full truck of car detailing stuff and suitcases. 65MPH and cruise control all the way!!! Made it there and still had about a 1/4 tank left didnt fill up until the all-gm nats were over and filled up right before we came home.

Ok You stated above you did 372 miles and had an eighth of a tank left. So well say you had 2 gallons left of 13 the tank holds.
372 divided by 11 = 33.8 mpg

hi. let me ruin your fun here. the larger the injector you run, the more skewed the mpg, and dte get.

that's true but it doesn't change how many miles he made it on a tank. I've done 700km's on a tank before on a roadtrip avg speed was 120-150km car seems to like going 120 alot more than 100
