So you made it down the track and passed the timing beam, what do you do? Obviously you take your foot off the gas. I would imagine the engine revs would be about 6k, do you let them hang, or do you push in the clutch and coast until you need to brake? I think it would be better to let the revs hang because it will help slow the car down due to engine braking. When would you use the foot brake? I would guess start applying the brake pedal about halfway into the runoff area, depending how much room there is. The track I will be going to says there is a 1/2 mile of runoff area.
Then follow the pit road speed limit and park in your pit and shut the engine off. Raise the hood for cooling, sit back in a folding chair, and crack a nice cold water. Smile from ear to ear after making a successful pass down the track without breaking anything. Oh, and don't forget to take your time slips. Repeat.

what campo? lol wtf
op: let the engine rev a bit and slowly bring it down to speed - mix both engine revs and light braking until you're low enough to turn off
depending on what mods you have will likely determind how long you should let it cool off before running it again
stock cars can pretty much back to back before having to cool off, in fact your best run will likely be your second if you still have hot tires - the best way to get optimal traction with FWD is to make a pass, instead of doing burnouts in the water pit

I tend to hold it for a second or some then I push in the clutch, I open my windows and help slow me down then I put in back in 4th and slowing apply the brakes and down shift not taking it above 4,000 rpm and make my turn back to get my slip.
cant believe my roommate kicked my window in...i walked over 3 miles to get home! and left a sexy girl at the beach and shredded my hand! life sucks
i rev it to 2200 and feather it into 1st at about 4grand btw

btw, i finish my 1/4 at the very top of 3rd, i just let it coast and brake and go to what my track has as a second u-turn to come back. I do not like jamming on my brakes from 103+ mph just to turn around quicker. I never open my hood, I just run my a/c. It keeps the engine at 184 always when it is on. My car usually isn't on in the pits, though.

Do you mean you turn the temperature knob all the way to red and put the fan on maximum? I know that's the thing to do if your car is overheating.
