I have always wanted to autocross in a car, or run timed laps around a race circuit. Does anyone know anyhere in Alberta (preferably close to Edmonton) where I can run my car in an autocross or any race tracks (road courses) that offer track days?
I don't really know about actual race tracks. Most seem to be ovals (or dirt tracks), which don't really interest me (especially the dirt tracks :) ). Only real one I know of would be the Edmonton City Center Airport circuit that hosts the CHAMPCAR race in Edmonton. Unfortunately, the track only exists for a week a year! Too bad the old Can-Am track has been built over! Otherwise, all there is is drag racing which isn't really my thing, but I will do that this summer.
It would be cool if some of us could meet up and do an autocross together or hit a road course for a day of fun if these exist anywhere in the province! I am sure there are others like me that would be interested in actually using the SS/SC for what it was built for. If not, I guess I may need to head south for a road trip. Lots of good road courses that host track days. I'd kill to cruise Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta, Road America, or some of the other major US tracks. I guess I could head east and hit Mosport oustide Toronto, but that is just as far as some of the US tracks.
