Newest times w/ Stage kit
Newest times w/ Stage kit
Myself and a few friends went out to Cayuga today and it was shall we say "busy"
Everyone and their dogs came along with goddam minivans running
I trapped as high as 105 MPH and cut a best of 2.2 shorts but 3 runs in almost 4 hours is not nearly enough as this is my first time with drag radials and it showed. I only got to lower pressure once from 25 PSI to 23 PSI so hopefully on the next drag day in 2 weeks I know it will get ALOT better. My best time of the day.....2.3 short
14.0 @ 104 MPH. That was my third and final run as I couldn't wait through 50 cars to get another run in. The stage kits are making power there's no doubt about that as my previous best ET was 100 MPH. 13's are there and if I can get acquainted with these DR's which I know I can with a little more track time I can see this car as is now hitting mid 13's.

Nice job, trap is impressive. Car is making a ton of power!
It sucks it was so busy, as 2.0 60's with dr's is pretty common with some seat time, and that would put you at a 13.4!!!
3 runs is pretty rough, some other guys said they got 17 in Jersey.
That's how you figure the car out.
Great runs though.

I can only assume that you were bogging the car to get 2.3 60's.
You have to drop the pressure to about 20lbs, or maybe 18 later on, and launch it pretty high. Maybe 3500-4000 on your car, pop the clutch, modulate the gas if necessary(likely not).
If you don't spin the tires a little, you are not launching hard enough. In a pewrfect launch, the tire would make one revolution when you pop the clutch, then hook and go.
Those tires can hold alot of power down, you just need some time on them and 13.4's
will be a regular thing.
Good luck, hope to hear good results in 2 weeks.
I don't want to get bashed for this but I was on street tires and not adjusting the air pressure(left at stock settings) with just intake and exhaust, full street trim and was able to pull a 14.3@ 100 with a 2.3 60'fter yesterday stock pulley and no boost bypass.
If you made a 14.0 pass @ 104 with a 2.3 60'fter then if you got a 2.0 your really only knocking .3 off which makes for a 13.7-13.8 pass at best it seems like the GM kit is just really making less power then advertised.. Maybe it's just me but good times none the less. hopefully you get better hooks on those DR's
My next mods are suspension mods before my stage kit.. we will see if I can score a low or flat 14 the next time. Gotta squeeze in the work on the car before the track.

Correct ... not to mention the 5 MPH trap speed increase is a much better indication of how much more power was made

I was looking back through Fast06SS's time slips and when he ran his 13.5 it was at 104 mph, so once you get some more practice launching you should be able to get those times too.

remember though his are with DR's meaning the MPH will be lower ...
My best time of the day was 14.2@104mph with a 2.350 60ft better 60ft times and the 13's are there especially with that 104mph trap speed. It was nice racing with you ninja I had fun.....we will have too go again. Hopefully my stock pirellels will grab when it gets warmer.

Thanks for all the feedback folks, I know I'll get mid 13's soon enough. I'm running BFG drag radials.

I have some videos from Cayuga. Unfortunatly my friends high end video camera corrupted an hour of tape! So i lost the vids of my best runs.
My best time was 14.836 @ 100.88 in my '06 Cobalt SS/SC.
I was surprised to get under 15 considering i've only had it for 4 months and its my first stick car. I had only practice drags the night before.
It was great to see so many other Cobalts out there.
I have a great video of me getting beat off the line by a Cobalt LS and then me coming back to beat it by over 1 second. Im looking forward to some practice so i can get the timing of the lights.
I have the slips if anyone is interested, but my times aren't anything special.
The videos i have are of the last runs for Ninja44 in his black ss/sc with stage 1, the yellow ss/sc with stage 1, a black ss 2.4, and some of me.
I also have some Hyabusa's kicking ass, the rocket car getting ready for launch but cutting due to fuel pressure problems (the one of it actually doing the 1/4 mile in 5 seconds at 306MPH became corrupt on my digi cam) and my friends in their grand prix and monti carlo.
I will set up a page tomorrow with all of the videos for downloading on the guy with the Grand Prix's website.
