made my own gauge pod. let me know how i did.
Well, i know OTTP was offering these gauge pods, but i heard right before i ordered they ran out and were on backorder. I also heard they may never get more in. Always loved the idea though so decided to do it myself because of my current situation for 2 weeks:
Anyways, went picked up some 2" PVC pipe from Lowes, chopped it. and went to work.

Not perfect, but my 1st time doing anything like this and im into these do it yourself projects now. Oh and i sanded and repainted the bottom left since that damn bump was in it. And i need to buy a gauge for it. have a triple pod on the way and 2 gauges. but i need an extra for this pod. any1 selling?
And this is my first time working with fiber glass or bondo, but i figured **** it, nothing better to do with myself lol.

looks pretty good man. just some helpful hints.....use less filler...you don't need the fiberglass weave cloth and you need to reposition the gauge a little better. but your getting the hang of it for sure.
looks good dude. same thing i did. it only cost me 20 buck to make in the cost of bondo, fiberglass, resin, and paints, only things that i did different than you was, i did a dual. i use a stone texture finish paint, and instead of clearing it to seel it, i painted it flat black it looks just like the factory dash board finish......but your looks good thou

angle is a little off because i never expected to use fiber glass lol. i thought bondo would hold it, but omg what i nightmare that was. lmao. it fell off so many times thus screwing the angle up a bit. it was my 1st time really using fiber glass, just went to autozone and got a fiber glass repair kit. worked great for me and was cheap and had everything i needed.
im thinking he did it for strength. bondo doesnt hold up very well on its own, i did it that way to because the bondo cracked on me when reinstalling it. so i think the fiberglass weave is a good ideal and a plus

I expected the bondo to at least hold the pod in place but since the plastic itself is so flexible it just keeps cracking and falling off. I was throwing PVC around like a madman. lmao. was all set to give up b4 i got me some fiber glass. and then sanding with a splint sucks. thank god for Vikadon
first off hot glue for placement. then i use abs goo to hold it in. i barely use any filler at all thats the difference. no cracks usually if you install the correct way popping off the steering column top piece.
