just figured I would share some of my cobalt problems with you guys

anyone leaking oil? i had one oil leak between the fuel pump and the block that GM has fixed, and it appears I have another coming from around the pan. WTF? 14k miles?

clutch squeaks all the time. pretty annoying

rear rotors and pads are fucked. gm is going to replace under warranty but backordered

there is an oily residue ontop of my valve cover where the sparkplugs are. where does this come from?

replaced a steering angle sensor because my esc fucked up and started randomly engaging on different tires.

replaced steering column because a bearing was out causing a rattle

The only "real" problem I've had with mine so far (@ about 6600km's) is the paint on the bottom of the doors which will be fixed as soon as I take it in. Other than that, just the usual stupid noises in the interior over bumps. Oh and the horrible suspension noises in the winter.

I would like to apolgise for what i said, I had way to much to drink but thiat is no excuse to yell at someone for something they didnt even do wrong. I have been around here for a long time and i normaly try to help people. So please dont judge me on this one time ass hole expereance.

Im sorry about your car i hope you get everything figured out about it. Isnt the rule if it has to be at the shop more then like 5 times in a certain amount of time they have to buy it back. idk let me try to find it.

Thats nothing compared to bad repairs I got from GM. I have had 3 repairs in 2 months and I'm talking major engine failures. If they don't get it right this time, big trouble for them.

Does your oil pan look like this?

I don't think it leaks though. Maybe the dealer just did a sloppy oil change? What do you think?

What car? What problems?
2006 SS/SC with 23K miles
Mods
GM Stage 2
Exedy HyperSingle Clutch
Injen Intake
Tran mounts
Driveshaft Shop Axles

First failure was a broken timing guide. They chain was pulling on it and stripped the threads out of the head. A brand new head was ordered and all my valvetrain moved to the new head.

Second failure was seized oil pump. Which I think was from them not installing the crank pulley properly. I don't think they rotated the oil pump so that the crank pulley was fully seated and it eventually worked itself off. Metal shavings were found in the motor. A complete rebuild of my engine including all new bearings a new crankshaft along with other various parts.

Third failure was a broken idler pulley which shredded my belt to kingdom come. This only 100 miles after i got my car back. My warranty had just gone up but they did it anyway on goodwill. It didn't matter because I had purchased a 6 year 60K warranty that they were unaware of. Then I tried to tell them I have GM Stage 2 and I need the shorter belt instead of the stock one. They then tried to tell me they will only put factory parts on. I told them it is a GM part and it's warrantied.

yeah, prolly a little worse when i first looked. Leaking from between the high pressure fuel pump and the block. they are replacing the fuel pump and gasket this time because it looks like the fuel pump isnt completely flat where it mounts

just an update for anyone who cares:

okay well when the oil was leaking the first time they just replaced the gasket between the high pressure fuel pump and the block.

second time it leaked from the same place they replaced the gasket and the fuel pump because they thought that it wasnt machined properly.

third time they are replacing the head because they think the head wasnt machined properly allowing it to leak. no head anywere to be found. ill probably be in a rental for at least a month.

That sucks that it is taking them so long to fix your car. It is trial and error really, they can't put all new parts in at the first go because of costs. They do one thing at a time, once it is fixed, they know which part was defective. It is like the scientific method, testing one variable at a time.

Its a DI engine, there is one in the gas tank and theres a 2nd one thats cam driven at the engine. The one in the tank just gets and keeps gas in the lines and to the engine bay. the cam driven one has insanely high pressure rating and is the one that pumps real hard to get that gas into the cylinder. Hence why its more like a diesel.

Was that pic of the oil pan at the back where the drain plug is?
