ss/tc looking at exhausts

couldnt really find much of a better topic area to post under...move if need be.

anyway im looking for a catback for my ss/tc and i got a few minor questions.

im looking at getting an exhaust from mandrel exhaust systems (http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com/servlet/StoreFront).

first question, do i need a resonator? i do mainly what would be considered city driving, no major highway but i'd say i cruise in 4th quite a bit maybe around 50-60 mph. i hear that it kinda drones if you dont have one and travel at constant speeds? so does the stock exhaust have a resonator, do companies like hahn and cia include one in their catbacks, and does it impact exhaust sound at nonconstant speeds?

im obviously lookin for a stainless 3" catback for as cheap as possible so im just wondering if the the resi option is a must.

second question, im lookin for the exhaust to rumble just a little at idle (more than stock) and be quite in low rpms and constant speeds and get pretty audiable and growl under higher rpms. looking for a deep smooth sound. if i go with mandrel exhaust systems, im either gonna go with the 5x8 magnaflow or the 6" round magnaflow. anyone have any input on either?

thanks for your help and thanks to steddy for helpin me out so far.

bump

even if anyone has either muffler listed or decided to go for against a resonator in your own exhaust, that input would be ok...

no, muffler is strictly on there to "muffle" the noise. I have a resonator and no muffler at all. Best route to go!

The only way you'll fail emissions is without a cat!

Right...I don't think people realize just how illegal it is to run no muffler...

i already decided on a hi-flow single cat dp so that i pass physical inspection, if we didnt have physical inspection here i would go catless since they just check for codes on newer cars.

pimplay...how do you like the magnaflow? im gonna go check out the street series on their website. thought you had a hahn exhaust btw?

this might be a stupid question that i could probably google but at least if i ask you guys ill get a more specific answer...what exactly does the resonator do? i have done a lil research and it seems like the muffler delete is popular on the ss/tc cause the turbo makes it sound better, does the turbo affect the resonator?

and i heard the borla can sound a lil buzzy?

did you get stainless and a resonator? i assume that fitment is good since you didnt like the fitment of the last one.

nope i didnt get stainless... stainless would be more of a 500 price range... and no resonator 3inch dp + custom 3 inch tubing+ magnaflow muffler.... and yea they made the tubing PERFECT no more rattle or exhaust clamp noises

let me kno if you come down you can hear mine before you decide what u want

Get a resonator and the oval muffler from them

Car us super deep and quiet, until I get on it.

I am catless too.
