My turn, went to the dragway today!

Well I took her out for the first time to the drag strip (Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, MD). She has 3400 miles on the clock and I just changed the oil on Thursday myself with Mobil 1 Synthetic.

It was a pretty good run overall.

Rallycobalt - 2006 SC with mods (Matt) and I went out.

Here are my times in order:

#1: 14.320 @ 102.93 with a 2.566 60' (nervous and first time tracking the car)
#2: 14.179 @ 102.46 w/ a 2.442 60'
#3: 14.028 @ 103.41 w/ a 2.360 60' (almost high 13's )
#4: 14.113 @ 102.71 w/ a 2.295 60'
#5: 13.847 @ 104.18 w/ a 2.315 60'
#6: 13.827 @ 104.39 w/ a 2.293 60'

I know this car can do better, but I think I did pretty good all things consider. My times were starting to get consistent in the high 13's so I figured I'd give her a rest for the day and watch the 6 second cars go by! I hot lapped the car and never really turned her off. I had a 1/4 tank of gas. Tire pressure in front at 20psi and 40 in the rear.

This was done using a 2400 rpm launch and NLS every gear. About 50 ft before the end I would pop into 4th.

Matt (rallycobalt) was car 112 in the time slips pictured:

On for pics:

Best run of the day - almost identical :

Now it's time for some power mods - downpipe, intake, charge piping, tune and new tires when these go (shouldn't be too soon though )

Let me know what ya guys think!!

i really wanna take one of these to the track. i was out there yesterday pickin up a few gallons of methanol and noticed a black tc. so i went over and talked to him and he said he just couldn't break into the 13s, he said his best run so far(about 3 hours in) was a 14.46 or something like that

yeah I had some trouble at first, it's all in the launch (too many RPMs you spin - too little you bog - that's where I found the sweet spot of 2400-2550). I'm completely STOCK btw.

yeah, I could tell he wasn't too happy (I wouldn't blame him though). We stopped halfway through the races to let his car cool off and it was still giving him problems (we were thinking the high wing and maybe the DR's).

4th at the end of the track... Trapping only 104... What MPH do the TC's 3rd gear end? I figured you'd be able to trap it through 3rd. Then again I don't know much about the TC's gearing..

Great runs!

I believe 3rd is good to 103, I literally hit 4th no less than 40-50ft before the end of the runs.

Nice-I've only got 2 runs under my belt so not much time to practice launching.

14.15 @ 105+ so I'm expecting 13's next time out. Heating the tires up good seemed to help it grab; this might be contrary to what some have expressed regarding "street" tires but I think it helps with the Continentals.

that was one of his runs, his car was ******* off the line. I think his best was 14.3ish today. I don't know exactly what his best is since we only raced together 3/6 times.

coop, ss/tc's powerband falls off the face of the earth real early. Not to mention GM gave them even longer gearing with a 3.82 final drive. So they have longer gearing than the LSJ's and their powerband sucks. SO they get into 4th stock. 4th is an overdrive gear so that sucks.

either way, good runs man. not bad for just a muffler delete.

it is, prep wasn't too bad, it was worn in though pretty well by the time that I dot there since every car except mine and matt's were on slicks.

I like the fact that Cecil allows you to drive around the water box (atco apparently doesn't let you ).
