View Full Version : Fuel Delivery/Management Upgrades For SS/TC
badbaltguy 05-31-2009, 01:56 PM hey, so here in a short matter of time so to speak, i'm going to get tuned by Hahn, getting the numbers i desired, and was wondering if ANYONE knows of any fuel delivery/management upgrades for the SS/TC... (injectors, pump, whatever...) i might not need it, but the thing is, i'm takin it to the limit, and i want to have that limit without any fuel cut...
real talk, i'm about to hit 400 whp, talk about it all you want but its possible, i've talked to Bill A LOT about this.....
MaxVQ35DE 05-31-2009, 10:56 PM any chance of getting this question answered here is very slim.
head over to the kappa sites

There are no upgraded injectors or fuel pump yet. :thumbsdow. 400 whp is possible on stock injectors but I am not sure if it will happen on an S20g at 22 psi. GT3076 have made 390 whp at 22 psi. Maybe with your maps clamped at 26 psi and some type of fueling fix I can see it.
PimpLay2 06-01-2009, 11:48 AM we need hptuner to release some fuel tables :)

So are you heading back up to his Shop soon?

it already has been done.
as for fueling options, we need hpt to give us some more damn table.

That they do but I have never heard of a S20G making much over 350 whp at 22 psi, but I guess there are very few of those running around. :) Anyboday have a dyno sheet on one? Dejons 16G solstice made less than 320 whp at 25 psi and i know the turbo is smaller but still.
badbaltguy 06-01-2009, 04:36 PM uhm, terminator2 listen up, this car,,, my car,,, has already seen 425whp on the dyno, but at the time, it was running into fuel issues... i know the details, i have the e-mails.... so, yes,, 400WHP on an S20G turbo IS possible. no hard feelings, but be nice to my s20g
reign1 06-01-2009, 05:23 PM
this still stands in the way that fuel delivery is inadequet at the moment.
doesnt matter how hard the turbo can be pushed. still sits at the MAP sensors. fuel delivery. piston heads. tunes. and airflow.
take those into consideration too. not just give it more gas go VROOM VROOM
and be cool to term. hes given more information to LNF owners than most have

Post the numbers!!!!! If not sorry but it's he said she said then.
mkriebs 06-02-2009, 02:12 AM Yeah... I'm gonna have to go with Term on this... his knowledge is pretty dang fine about this engine and tuning capabilities. I wouldn't have the badass tune, and half the knowledge I have right now without him.
Hotshot768 06-02-2009, 03:37 AM If our fuel pumps and injectors aren't the problem, and it the computer issuing. why not like a small fuel management system. I have the Hahn BSR tune and I love it but I run lean frequently the only time I really get rich is in 4th gear. I was think something like a SAFC or something on a tune?? Like if I did a SAFC on my car to bring down A/F's down??

Remember, the direct injection cools the intake cahrge better than port injection, so DI cars tend to run more lean.

What I dont understand is how you were able to make 425 whp with fueling issues. Do you have a dyno sheet? I would like to see what rpm it made 425 whp. Most run out of fuel at 6500 or so before the turbo can reach peak airflow. What amount of airflow are you seeing? It takes 46-47 lbs per min to make 425 whp, and IIRC the GT3076, which flows a tad more than the S20G, flows 40 lbs per min at 20 psi and 44 lbs per min at 22 psi.
crypticscifer 06-02-2009, 12:59 PM I guess someone can't back up what they say.......... :listening to jeopardy tune
drew1991sf 06-02-2009, 01:01 PM hasnt any1 ported the head yet? or upgraded the maf sensor? lots of cars do that. same with the pistons allecotec just released them.
but ik none of that will help without being able to access the tables u need
PimpLay2 06-02-2009, 01:03 PM i would like to know also

ZZP is running a ported head on their TC cobalt. Intake ports flow like crap on the LNF head that is another reason big numbers are not happening yet. LSJ intake ports flows tons better stock that the LNF's head. :thumbsdow
Gestapo007 06-02-2009, 01:06 PM 400 HP seems reasonable with a new turbo
drew1991sf 06-02-2009, 01:10 PM have they released any numbers on the gains or anything?? cuz if it helped alot then, i'd expect alot of ppl to save up for that instead of turbo swaps
Terminator2 06-02-2009, 01:14 PM 400 HP seems reasonable with a new turbo
Except that they run out of fuel at 6500 or so before the turbo can reach peak flow. :thumbsdow
reign1 06-02-2009, 01:27 PM hmmm. i would mind learning how to port the turbo manifold. lol.
i heard euthanasia has done this too already..
drew1991sf 06-02-2009, 01:29 PM prolly will help alot, has any1 ported the turbo on these?
Terminator2 06-02-2009, 01:38 PM prolly will help alot, has any1 ported the turbo on these?
BTF has his KO4+ and KO4++ that are ported stock turbos with a larger compressor wheel that can flow 20% more air than the stock one. Unfortunately, some are experiencing compressor surge issues at 3500-4000 rpms. :thumbsdow That is the only thing keeping me from buying one. I can tune it myself but I dont want to have surge to deal with.
drew1991sf 06-02-2009, 01:40 PM wat about just porting the turbo manifold, i've been wandering for months y ppl havent
Zooomer 06-02-2009, 01:53 PM We dyno'd over 400WHP pretty easily switching to our turbo and manifold on an LNF. Stock head, stock fuel system. Bullseye extended tip turbo.

Do you have the dyno sheet? what were you revving it to?
Terminator2 06-02-2009, 02:23 PM Do you have the dyno sheet? what were you revving it to?
It was about 6400-6500 IIRC.
drew1991sf 06-02-2009, 02:25 PM pm sent to u term
steven6870 06-07-2009, 12:40 AM What is the stock fuel delivery? As far as lb/HP/hr goes? And what about max injector duty cycle percentage?
drew1991sf 06-07-2009, 01:56 AM has any1 got a bigger maf sensor for these?
Matt M 06-07-2009, 11:58 AM Do you have the dyno sheet? what were you revving it to?

What is the stock fuel delivery? As far as lb/HP/hr goes? And what about max injector duty cycle percentage?I think they rate the injectors at 120 lb/hr at 2000psi, but your available window to use the injectors is only a small portion of the cycle on DI engines.
has any1 got a bigger maf sensor for these?
The MAF chart does not max until beyond 100 lbs/hr. It won't be an issue. On the other hand, the MAF tube is ~3.25", so there may be gains from running a larger tube when pushing past 400whp. We used the stock airbox on our 400whp setup.

,mustangs read 10% lower usually.. and the fuel pump is FINE! STFU jebus
as far as the map issues.. vince at trifecta has addressed this and has been able to see 25-26 psi on a test car .. right now he noticed that boost DC is being maxed at 80% once he is able to adjust that which he's working on he might be able to see more... he's working with dynamic map scaling
also he's looking at doing a boost referenced fuel pressure setup as well ..
now that he owns a hhr ss things will be coming alone quicker :twothumbs

Mustang dynos read lower numbers
Matt M 06-09-2009, 03:03 PM first off mustang dynos tend to read 10% higher then others... Second, the fuel pump will need to be upgraded as well as the pipe that connects to the fuel pump....All dynos read different. Our Mustang dyno reads a little lower than the lowest Dynojets I've used, but on the high side for Mustang dynos that I have used. I'd say with a 15% range difference for dynos I have tested on at least a few times, ours would come in right in the middle.
I'm not sure what you are saying on the fuel pump. The quantity of fuel delivery is not an issue. The injection timing is, but upgrading the pump will not correct this issue without being able to raise the pressure and program for it.
40rty 06-09-2009, 03:25 PM Alright, since you guys are talking about fueling issues and what not and seem to know what your talking about. Can you answer this? Everytime now that I go to the pump I have been having issues turning my car on after refueling. It just sits trying to restart and turns and turns til finally on usually the second time starting it starts but barley runs and almost chokes(with occasional misfire). Once it does get going, its fine and runs great. Now, I have been getting engine codes as well (Engine to lean at idle) and(barametric emissions something code). Could this just be bad O2 sensors? Could this be a problem with the engine? Also, not sure if I trust the engine codes cause on the dyno i was watching my A/f ratio for all runs, at idle I was at 13.9 and WOT went as low as 10.8.
Could this be a fueling issue though or what?
VinceTrifecta 06-09-2009, 03:42 PM Hey 40rty
That's caused by the intake system (or an intake leak somewhere after the MAF). The aftermarket intakes can affect airflow across the airflow sensor causing lean fuel trim codes and cold/hot start problems.
I've been able to fix this issue on another customer's car that had an aftermarket intake.
Send me some email and we'll talk about getting a tune update to you.
