How many clicks for your parking brake?

It seems like I've been having to pull my parking brake up a bit further the past few days...I can't say for sure that it is different, but it just doesn't feel like it did before.

If I remember correctly, i just had to pull it up a little bit (maybe 4 clicks) and it was engaged. Now I have to do about 6 clicks and to get it to engage and at 5 clicks, it can actually roll a bit.

I know both of the rear brakes are engaging properly and there is nothing broken. I also know that the cables are likely to stretch just a tad since they are new, but it seems like I might have another issue somewhere with the parking brake system.

Anyone else had a problem with this? Anyone know how many clicks it takes for the brake to engage on their SS/TC?

It seems that originally, it was like clicks 1-3 were completely "off" and the click 4 was completely "on". Now it is like clicks 1-4 are "off", 5 is "on a little bit" and 6 is "on".

Any help or experiences would be helpful info to evaluate my issue...

Yeah...I did play with that a bit, but I'm still wondering if where I am at is normal or if what I remember from day 1 is normal...

eh...mine usually takes around 3 or 4 clicks. Everyone's seems to be loosening up though...I'll pay attention to it as my mileage goes up...I've only got just over 4k on it.

The Haynes manual says 3-5 is acceptable.

When I first got my SS/TC, it took 3 clicks but the rear brakes would drag a LOT when the e-brake handle was fully down. I re-adjusted it so the right rear was drag-free (driver's side always drags for some reason) and it takes 4 clicks to lock the car.

I think the dragging screwed my rear brakes after 6k. Mine only clicks 3 times and then I'm not strong enough to raise it further. How do you adjust it?

Damn I have to crank mine up pretty far, it already rolled down my driveway when I didn't put it in gear and it's not super steep either lol. It was frightening seeing my car in the middle of the street by itself.

Off the top of my head 5 or 6 until I can't move it anymore but it holds on my slanted driveway in 4 and above. Mind you my car's always parked in gear so I'm not overly concerned how well it holds except for when I get out to the close the garage door. I always look over my shoulder in case I have to chase the bloddy thing down the driveway if the e-brake lets go, but I never had a problem with it in my 2.2 either...it consistently held.

It's amazing how much better the E-brake in my TC compared to my SC . I almost threw my self threw the windshield one day cause i was still rolling forward a little. In my old car i would engage really light and would gradually stop the car. in this car 2 notches and it's already engaged.

I just checked mine. 5 clicks easy and the 6th would be for a step hill and......my car has 120 miles on it, so fairly new I would have to say.

I'd heard alot about our brakes (rear discs) sucking prior to getting my car... but I haven't had any issues with mine. Still park in gear of course, but mine holds fine at about 12,000 miles.
