It without a doubt causes more clutch wear compared to shifting normally.

just think about it.. when you NLS, the motor is spinning close to redline, so its gonna slip more than in a regular shift.

I am sure it wears the clutch more quickly, however, I would only use it in a situation where you're racing and not during normal driving. Why do you need to worry about keeping boost if you're just doing everyday driving and not racing?

It's like anything else in a manual transmission car when it comes to driving quickly... If you slip the clutch here and there (quick launches, NLS, etc.) it's not the end of the world... Just don't go around banging a no-lift-shift from every light, use it on special occasions

No worse then a really fast. It cuts spark to lower RPM to an RPM that is fairly close to the next gears RPM.

IDK about the NLS that comes with the LNF. But my N2MB WOT box lets me NLS and the shifts are much smoother and easier on the tranny and clutch.

gm tried 650 launches with NLS on the same car and such driving doesn't even void any warrenties. supposedly it gives a smoother engagement than if you we're shifting in a race without it. this claim is also made by the people at N2MB if i'm not mistaken.

It's true. NLS lowers the RPM faster then if you just do a super quick shift.

additionally, you'll see closer rev matching if you set it right.

I would imagine there'd be more wear on the clutch than a regular low rev shift, but since the NLS has to be done fast, there's not a lot of time spent in the "friction zone" between engagement and disengagement, so the less time you spend in that area, the less you're slipping the clutch, therefore less wear.

I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or something I tried it twice and both times the Boost went to 0 then climbed like i did a regular fast shift.....

did you let off of the gas any?

btw highbeamz, you are right. as always, driving like you're racing will wear it more. but not as bad as normal if a proper NLS is performed. so save NLSing for a pull against another car.

dunno then, but like PH03 said, it may have to do with competitive mode. not sure though bc i don't personally have NLS yet.

If you take too long it hits the limiter and reverts to a regular shift.

It works in any mode as per the manual, but I'd recommend doing it in Competitive or TCS Off modes only... If you do it in regular mode it may cut spark and bog the engine since the car often loses traction.

Just curious, and maybe this has been covered before, but wouldn't it be covered under the powertrain warranty even if it did wear the clutch out faster? It's a feature built into the car.

how is NLS'ing at redline slipping the clutch any worse than regular shifting at redline. the shift has to do with the gas pedal not the clutch. if your spinning tires going into the next gear your clutch is just fine

I figured I'd better bust this out again in this thread because I already know it's going to come up...
