Come on man its not going to BREAK the tires loose. Unless its highly modded. But maybe with full boltons but your going to need to be turboed or sc.

Sounds like the concern here is something is either damaged, or worn.

Tell us how many miles are on the car.
How many miles to your oil change.
If you recently switched oil brands.
If you ever check your tire pressure.
Etc...

I would personally reset the computer and try to see if that helps.

For those who wonder what that involves:

Disconnect the positive on your battery.
Leave off for 5 minutes (its what I do whether it is required or not)
Reconnect positive lead.
Start car and let idle for 5 minutes ( DO NOT TOUCH THE GAS )
The car is now finding it's idle point.
Shut off car.
Restart and drive to let it relearn optimal AFR and shift-points based on the motor and tranny's condition.

It is getting hotter out, and as such performance drops a little.

Also, it is odd that your car is slower than when new.
The reason I say its odd is because my car was slow when new until about 3k miles, and it started to pep up. At 10K miles it really woke up, not like it is now an SS, but it is ALOT more peppier than when it was new.

ps, I can make my wheels squeel with my auto 2.2 easily from a stop, but NOT some white smoke creating tire burning action.

I have a stock ls and I've chirped the tires. Given it wasn't a full breaking loose of the tires but it made noise

My definition of squeeling the tires is it actually went a few rotations with low traction.
It is not just a little chirp.
Wonder if I got one of the good ones? Lol

You rev that thing up to 6000 rpms and dump the clutch and you'll get a good spin out of the tires. This of course assuming your transmission doesn't explode, but I digress.

Try erasing codes in your ECM -- with a code reader that has an erase function. Your ECM learns as you drive and if you baby it for a while then it "learns" to save gas. Disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the learn values of the sensors -- the factory service manual says to erase the codes (even if you don't have any) to reset the learn values. The ECM has a power supply to keep from losing learned and stored data should the battery power go away.

I even occasionally do an erase when my SS/NA starts to feel sluggish to get the bottom end back...and I learned about it on my 06 LS -- it could spin the tires off the line nicely (yes even without FI) but it would do the same thing you are complaining about...seem to lose bottom end power until I did an erase and it would spin the tires again.

Try that and let us know if it works for you too...

First off, the people with the SS/SC's & SS/TC's really need to stop the ******* - "It's a 2.2L, you couldn't torque the lugnuts on my car down with that piece of **** at WOT." comments. Go **** yourselves and stay in your ******* 2.0L section.

Second off, I would change the fuel filter, if you haven't yet, as well as run SeaFoam through the oil, through the gas, and through a vacuum line.

lets see.... if it were my car.... sounds like tune up time. lucky for you, modern cars are pretty easy to tune up. (anyone that said old cars were easier is full of ****)

do the code erase thing. if you don't have the scan tool, autozone will do it for free. i usually give the guy like 10 bucks for lunch.

pop in new AC delco professional plugs (good irridium plugs, and cheap for what they are)
fresh air filter, or clean yours, if you have a K&N.
change the oil
get some MAF and throttle body cleaners. use them as per mfgr's specs.
same with some good quality fuel injector cleaner.

and, if you're a little more adventurous,

change the trans fluid
change the fuel filter.

also, in my opinion, the "burnout test" is a pretty crappy way to tell how the car is running. if your tires are bald, it may just be siding, not "Burning"

also, if you do this frequently, your trans could just be less than happy with you.
