View Full Version : 15 sec cobalt coupe auto...
dnbguy86 03-24-2005, 10:14 PM We just got a few cobalt coupes at our dealership and one of my co-workers had a g-tech meter in his truck so we'd gave it a try in the ol' cobalt which was auto mind you but heres the results. We got a 15.9@87. NOt too bad, but being that it was auto, the take off kinda sucked. we didnt stall it up or nothing, just mashed the gas. what yall think ?
avro206 03-24-2005, 11:00 PM thats a great time! I will go for a 5 speed, so it will be faster ;)
MachiBLue 03-24-2005, 11:09 PM That one nice time. 2 bad mine will be a little bit slower, due to my two extra doors..

Thats pretty good and doesn't surprise me at all. I watched a stock 4dr auto cavy with a ecotec (2004) do a 15.77 last year (it was a rental car) so once that cobalt gets broken in, it should be even faster
mcz34man 03-26-2005, 09:41 PM ill stick with my ss.........when it comes
Fatal Fax 03-28-2005, 01:01 AM Awesome! Hopefully with header back exaust and intake it will be in the lower 15s. Peppy car it sounds! With the shifter how it is, you can easily put the car in neutral and launch it at higher RPMs probably run a 15.7-15.8 or so.

uhm....thats not a good idea at all---putting in nuetral reving and dropping into drive. But if you want to break your car--go ahead ;)
ull need a torque converter to do the auto launch right
im hopin to get my spd coupe into the 14's
wikkymaster 05-05-2005, 01:21 AM shouldnt be too hard after i/h/e and some cams
Co27SSKid 05-05-2005, 02:44 AM Shouldn't the comp be able to be played with too? Thats where i c alot of cars getting better 1/4 miles times from, the computer being reprogramed. :cssNET:

Chevy4Life85 05-05-2005, 05:50 PM wait the 2.2 did a 15.9? what will the SS pull off then high 14's?
wikkymaster 05-05-2005, 09:00 PM i think the ss is supposed to pull a 14.7, maybe its a 14.9, well whatever it is, yes its in the high 14's

Like i said earlier, i cant justify the gtech's accuracy. it might be off by a few tenths...

good time
brianfcp 06-11-2005, 07:55 PM whoa, 15.9? Now, i have a question...
one of these nights i wanna bring my stock cobalt to the track to see what it gets, but what octane should i use? someone told me 91 octane is good, but it can wear the engine... i dunno.
anyways, whoa, 15.9, thats way faster than the road&track's 16.6!

the gtech isnt 100% accurate anyways
i ran a 16.6 completely stock
if you do go, lower your tire pressure to 22 psi, i bet that will yield low 16's
and since your motor is made for 87 octane, use that
there is no need to run 91 in a car tuned for 91
OdieCobalt 06-17-2005, 03:37 PM rather than Air intake what would help make the cobalt quiker???
wikkymaster 06-17-2005, 08:48 PM rather than Air intake what would help make the cobalt quiker???
are you kidding me?
i tried plugging in my gtech and it was goin all crazy like not being able to read the rpms and stuff i dont know why i never had a problem with it in my cav, i tried resetting it still nothing.
OdieCobalt 06-18-2005, 01:31 AM that had nothing to do with my post :)
PenguinPIE 06-18-2005, 05:08 AM the gtech isnt 100% accurate anyways
well if its not 100% accurate...chances are the time could be lower than 15.9 :-D
OdieCobalt 06-18-2005, 05:04 PM we can only dream :)
