Hey guys i can get a 2.4 out of a HHR for cheap. I have a 09 2.2 LS is this just a swap in and out or is there a lot of work to be done?

he must have saw ZZP's thread about them getting their 2.4 automatic balt into the 11's w/ drag slicks, turbo kit, 78lb valve springs, ZZP downpipe and exhaust, and rear spring blockers.

lol you might want to change your title because it sounds like you already have the 2.4L and swapping to the 2.2L  As far as swapping out the engine its possible but very costly......for starters you practically have to rewire the entire car because the wiring harnesses are not the same or so I've read.

thanks just thought the 2.4 was a bigger version of the 2.2. I have a freind how wrecked his hhr and was going to give me the motor for $250

Well the LAP is a slightly smaller version of the LE5.

Just to muddy the waters a little bit...

Couldn't an FE5 be almost a direct drop in to an LAP car? The LAP shares the FE5 intake manifold, cylinder head, and both have the VVT and Coil-On-Plug ignition. Seems to me that it *could* work.

That being said, it may only be $250 for the motor, but theres going to be lots of other expenses and it will take a lot of time. For what you'll end up putting in it, there's cheaper and easier ways to make 20hp.

he would need the engine harness and the computer for the FE5... other then that yeah would work... i would say from start to finish a month long project.

I think you mean the LE5, the FE5 is the suspension setup that is on the SS/SC and TC

Buy it for $250, then sell it for more.

wont work, way more work than what its worth, like it has been mentioned, there is a better way to make those ponies, and a swap is just not a good way to do it, the $$:hp ratio is way off, the best bang for your buck would be to get the car tuned with those 250
