17 inch rims?

What would be the best tire size for 17 inch rims? I want to get some tires that look good, but are also a common/cheap size. I go through tires quickly so they wont be on there more than a year. Thanks

Im thinking about putting 17 inch wheels and tires to match in a few months...Ive found the wheels i want..american racing wheels in a 4 lug 17inch, and Ive found the tires I want, but im not sure how to match the two together. ive seen a 4 door ss and the stance and wheel/tire combo look great but they have 18s on them.

My questions is would a 225/40/R17 fit well on a 17x7.5 wheel 4 lug? if not how can i tell what size wheel to put on a 225/40/R17 or do i need to drop it down to a 215/40/R17 or 215/45/R17?

Thanks ahead of time

No. 225/45/17 is the best size for cobalts. its enough sidewall and width. anything smaller then that looks stupid as ****. and my prefrence is that. so thank you.

+1 and any larger you start pinching the tire and doesnt help with performance either.

decided on 18s !

I think ive finnally decided on American Racing Haze(Black with Machined Lip) 18s.. With hankook Ventus H4 series tires 215/45R18.

Im goin for a 4 door SS look i got the LT model but im slowly going to SS my sedan out ive got the front ss bumper and rear extension and the stock ss or sport pack on the sedans come with 18s and they look great.

So thank you for all your advice.
