Question Front Wheel issues and metallic clanging

I have two issues that maybe some of you guys might be able to help me with

1. My front rims develop a film of black dust / soot on them, I just cleaned them today and drove maybe 3 blocks... and that film is starting to develop. Nothing like it on the back rims.

2. When I make turns i hear a metallic clanking sounds like somethings rolling back and forth.. I can't discern where it's coming from, but I'm sure it's not cargo in the vehicle. The sound doesn't always happen, it usually happens on sharper turns, but i have heard it
during gentle lane changes.

Thanks guys

No.

But on the the other hand, the metallic clanking is not normal. Try to drive over some bumps with your windows down and you will ear if it's something that is coming from the suspension or not. I had to have the "link kit" (sway bar link) and steering column replaced on my car, so maybe this is your problem. However, these parts will sound more like a wobbling sound when worn.

It's normal with the stock rotors and pads. I have the same issue. I haven't gotten new rotors and pads yet. Slotted and drilled rotors in addition to semi-metallic pads will help keep them cleaner.

Check the lugs to make sure they are tightened.

It almost sounds like a giant metal marble is rolling around behind my dash, I've drove around with the windows down, it doesn't seem to be coming from the suspension... hrmm Is this something i should have the dealer look at?

As for the break dust, I have under 1000 miles on the car... and haven't really done any heavy breaking. So is the excess dust normal for light driving?

Slotted and drilled rotors will not help brake dust at all. If anything, it'll create a lot more brake dust.

Brake dust is completely normal and not at all something to be worried about. I would be surprised if your car DIDN'T have brake dust. It happens with most cars... Just make sure you wipe it off every so often so the wheels don't get stained.

I wash my car at least 2 times a week (sometimes more) .......every time the front wheels are full of black brake dust. I even wash the inside of the rim to help keep them looking good. They are so bad that i have to use a separate wash bucket and sponge so it doesn't contaminate my regular wash bucket and microfiber mits.

I had my car in the shop last week for the first oil change and there was a banging and clanging sound coming from the rear end. I had noticed it had been going on for a while from 1st to 2nd and after 3rd you couldn't hear it. The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) would act up from time to time too, so I figured it was something to do with one of the magnets. They checked it out ends up that the TPMS magnet had sheered off inside the wheel. So it was bouncing back and forth inside the tire. That could be it?
