Anyone happy with Hurst STS on SS/TC?

I got one, installed it, and it's awful. Does anyone have one that they got to work well? It appears that the cable attachment point is relocated to below instead of beside the shaft of the shifter. It seems to rub the bottom of the shifter housing. Has anyone else noticed?

I am sorry to hear... It may not help, but if you have the extra money I would suggest investing in a TWM short throw shifter. I have one and I can vouch for it...

I have a friend that got the TWM STS and said it was not much of a difference. Personally I don't mind my stock shifter at all.. Everybody that has gotten in my car always says that my throw is real short compared to theirs. I guess to one his/her own.

Yup, youll have some of that with a B&M or Hurst shifter in a TC, its not an upgrade for these cars. Hate to say so but your best bet is gonna be to sell it and go back to stock. Some people have had better luck with the TWM, but as was said its not really much shorter, just allows you to run better knobs.

Well I agree that it isn't much shorter, but the engagement of the shifter is much better...The transitioning between gears for the TWM STS is MUCH smoother than stock...

I bought one for my ss/sc and i wont buy another one. Why? Because its heavier and i didnt like the way it shifted. I loved the stock ss/tc shifter!

on my SS/SC it was great. Loved that shifter. Crisper shorter throws and never missed a gear. Seemed I always missed 3rd gear with the stocker but that changed with the hurst STS although finding 5th gear was always fun since it was a pubic hair away from 3rd.

I spent the extra money for the TWM, because I read more than a few threads on people frustrated with the hurst product. The throw isn't much shorter, but with the weighted knob and new bushings the shift is much smoother and feels so much better than stock.

Yes the bushings are what makes the biggest difference in my opinion....they are only like $35 or something, the shifter itself is a waste on a TC

The stock SS/TC shifter was advertised as a short-throw shifter, FWIW.

So was the SS/SC's...BUT the throw in a SS/TC is shorter than an SS/SC.

I would maybe do some bushing for the stocker for a smooth entry into each gear. Can that be done or those are specifically done for th TWM?

Bushings are 35 bucks and change shift feel dramatically.

I have spent my money else where in the car. See Sig, now I'm looking into this.

dangggg, my bad dude! Wow, you have pretty much everything (mod) done to your TC. Thats awesome.

I am not ever going to a track, and I am a speed demon, so the stock SS/TC is plenty fast enough for me.

The bushings are definitely worth it. While some would say "spend your money elsewhere", I believe anything that improves your capabilities in driving the car and hence the car's performance are worth it. As others have stated, you do not have to change out the entire shifter to get increased performance out of it. Simply change the bushings... That in itself will help considerably. The thing I love about my shifter is that it is better constructed than stock and performs better than stock. My stock shifter really loved to hang up in neutral. Whenever I shifted through neutral it seemed as though I was pushing the shifter though a spongy/dead area (wasn't smooth). Now, I no longer have that problem.

Btw... I am fully modded as well. I actually put this upgrade off thinking that it wasn't as good of an investment as other mods. However, looking back I can see that I was actually wrong in doing so. This mod should probably be done after any initial performance mods (dp and tune), but prior to any extensive mods (lowering, cat back, etc..)...
