I am just curious as to how everyone's transmissions are holding up to the abuse of drag racing. Especially those who have upgraded clutches and mods. Please post! Thanks!

Car's doing fine. Clutch grabs just as hard as it did when I was stock. No issues what so ever.

Thanks. Is there anyone else that would like to comment on this? I want to know if the new mounts are really saving the transmissions.

I feel people should also post up mileage too. I gots like almost 16k, and I'm def still rock solid. no drag racing, but I do a fair amount of 'brisk accelerations' from a stop.

im on my 3rd. 2nd one wasnt due to drag racing though. 5th and reverse were going out. OE clutch, original came out out 60k and looked fine. new one has held 1.8 60's and DR 2nd gear burnouts. didnt realize this was in the TC section, maybe itll help anyways

Exactly the info I am looking for as I have an LSJ myself. I am on my 3rd tranny as well, I was just curious if the new LNF or OTTP mounts have solved most of the issues that lead to the detrimental failure of the F35. ;)

I killed the first one (cracked case) at about 10k... about 1500 miles later I blew up 3rd... then at about 35k I blew the 3rd with a cracked case at the track. used the ott mounts. didnt do crap. problem I see is the car needs a lower engine mount to remove the harsh turning axis causing the load on the tranny

Hmm... I wonder what on the SS/TC's is allowing there tranny's to be saved at the track then. I know the axles a thicker and the mounts are different, but is there something else allowing them to stay together?

Z-speed, did you have the stage 1 or stage 2 ottp mounts? Did you have an upgraded clutch? Finally, were you on stock axles?

I have made around 30 passes so far. 10.5k on my 09. 290 HP to the wheels and the transmission is mint *knock on wood*.

Exedy Hypersingle, best damn clutch hands down for the Cobalt. The only clutch I will ever put in this car after the whole damn fiasco with my 3 different versions of Clutchmasters so they could get it right, and after hearing the Spec horror stories.

Stock. Alittle over 20 passes with no problems to report.

and i wont run one on a stock tranny. an0 broke tranny on one, you have broken a couple, etc.

the clutch needs to give to make the tranny last IMO. only one of mine was gone due to drag racing, and the stock clutch held up just fine. just my .02 though

ok.I think clutch material choices are organic, cavlar, carbon and semi metallic.Well, that's all i can think of right off the bat.I am seriously wanting a different clutch, but along the lines of what hatrickstu said and several conversations with some transmission builders(quite awhile ago) you want something that will "slip".I am not talking about the slipping action due to a clutch being understrength, but the material/clutch setup allowing minute slips in hard shifting to absorb some of the shock.

What i am saying is,i am not seeing a strong enough organic clutch setup offered, but that would be my preference but i could be mistaken and would like more info about it all.:)

You can slip the Exedy. If you have a feel for it you can treat it almost like stock.

I dont remember exactly what i was doing that I pulled the axle but if i had not pulled it i wouldnt of know the axle was broken. It didnt leak or anything till I pulled it and was like :wtf:
