My first auto cross!!!

hey guys im gonna be running out at langley speedway tonite and was hoping a few of you seasoned auto crossers could give me some pointers. I usually drag race. The car has plenty of power 280whp, and for suspension all i really have is ebach sportlines on stock struts, a DC strut tower brace, and an ingalls TD. Ill be on my factory rims wrapped in some firehawk wideovals tires 225/40/18. My buddy runs out there and was telling me to inflate my tires to 40 psi and go from there so i dont roll over the bead. Any suggestions? heres the track im running at

See those orange pointy things on the ground?

Don't hit them.

Seriously, based on my one AutoX: walk the course a few times, try to memorize it as best you can. Hook up with a guy who's done it before and pick their brain for any pointers (if they drive a FWD car too, all the better, advice from RWD car drivers can be quite different and not necessarily helpful). On your first run, just try to make it through the course without going off-course and without hitting any cones (just to get the feel of things) and see how it is (not to mention your adrenaline will be pumping and you're better off going *****-out once you've settled down a bit). Other than that, just HAVE FUN!

take of the strut bar its gonna increase understeer, and for the first run or two take them at like 75% to get to know the course ask ppl there for help. brake b4 the turn not in it and even threw turns keep ur foot on the gas as much as possible

Yeah. Also, expect to squeal those tires like an oiled up pig being chased by a bunch of 10-year-olds. Everyone loves a little tire-roasting anyways.

Also, I found that 40 psi was too much on my tires (but I'm running the SS/NA 17's) I understeered like crazy. I started with 40 psi front and 35 psi rear (cold) and ended up just running both of them at about 37 psi hot and that helped A LOT. having a little bit of roll-under is better than having a whole shitload of understeer, but these numbers are for the 17" rims. I'd say make your first run at 40 PSI and see how they feel. More PSI will give crisper response in turning, but will result in more understeer. Less PSI will give you a bit sloppier steering, but provide better traction.

yea man i had a blast, out of 57 cars i made it to 7th place, it was a duel elimination match pretty fun. It took a 79 camaro built on a 150shot and full suspension to knock me out and he only beat me by two cars.

ottp hardcore RSB, it was used on the SS time attack cars. Its 1.25 inches of stiff so you really need to drive slow at first to get a feel for the car.

First you run a time trial lap by yourself. One warm up lap and then a timed one. Then they pair you with a car with a similar time. You run if you win you got to A Main, if you lose that race you go to B main. Then after that if you lose again youre eliminated and the winneer advances. You keep going till you win or lose. Thats why when i ran the 79 maro on spray full suspension and slicks i was pretty happy he only won by 2 1/2 cars. Then he beat nimo a regular that wins all the time and he won A main so i did dam good made it to the top ten finished 7th. But every week you get points based off your time trial lap. At the end of the season the winner gets 2500dollars and a trophy about as big as our car
