mild DIY porting and polishing of my TB.
well i decided it was time for a small project. i noticed how the upper portion of the inner TB was just a rough cast finish. i looked up online on DIY port and polishing and decided to give 'er a shot.
its not as great as i wanted, but im also a very impatient person. its smooth to the touch (even with a fingernail), but doesnt have a true mirror finish. you can still see a bit of texture, but as stated, its smooth to the touch. Either way, its way way way better than how it was.
i also ground down/rounded the edges of the first "step". there is a small ridge in the transition between where it was rough cast, and where it is factory polished.

i dont know how much is placebo, but yeah. its a lot more responsive. if you have it in gear and even tap the throttle, it seems to lurch almost instantly. definatly worth doing if you have a rotary tool/attachments laying around. i had to go out and buy a few attachments/security torx, but it was under 30 bucks
I did this on my Sube and had very good results with an hr or 2 of work! Looks good
The SS/TC looks a lil complicated to rip apart, does anyone know if the ss/tc has the same ridge inside? Id hate to rip it apart for nothing

they always get like one response, and then die. ha ha almost every single time. pictures of my car, new mods, new ideas, ha ha almost every time they die right away.
its not as noticable of a ridge as you would think, but its there. and im not sure how hard it would be to get to yours and find out how your tb is

I have a small forum for friends and I link the images from there. Feel free to do so yourself

i wont have money to buy mods for a good while...so any free mods i can do im doing :p like cleaning out my IM, smoothing out the castiing from the blower, pnp the TB...dual pass...some seafoam etc... things that cost time and little money but once i start modding again, im upgrading my exhaust to a MBS one w/borla muffler, ls4 tb, meth(set to activate@10psi), 2.8" pulley
dont know if the size of the ls4 applies to the 2.2 like the 2.0...we are a bigger engine, and have more room to fill than a 2.0...so the ls4 could do greater good on a higher dislacement engine

no. before you take the butterfly out, trace the outline with a dry erase marker. and stay clear of that area. then just smooth out the areas other than the marked area as best you can
Just did mine last night, no pics, but it came out pretty nice. Anyone else get about a 100/200 rpm increase at idle? I didnt touch the area around the butterfly, so I m just wondering if this is normal. All in all, didnt notice that much difference, maybe a slight smoothing of the powerband, but thats about it.
