HP Tuners locked ECM

Went down to L.I. last night to have a BCP tune from Paul uploaded to my car. I got there and we tried to tune it, but whoever tuned my car last flashed an 06 tune onto my 07 car and apparently that created a problem because now my ecm is locked.

Question is, would getting my car's stock (non stage 2) tune flashed back onto the ECM from GM, and then tuning the car with HP Tuners, allow the car to be tuned again? Or would the computer still be locked somehow?

Hopefully Paul will see this, it sucks because I drove 3 hours and couldn't even get my car tuned. lol

Your car was already tuned when you bought it?If you can find who tuned it last should have a code to unlock it,at least thats what i understand.

06 and 07 have a slightly different os. ecm won't accept it either direction.

A local member upstate used his HPT to tune it when I changed pulley and injectors. We used his 06 stage 2 tune file and I guess that fucked up tuning for me because now Paul can't tune it because HPT won't let him write anything to my ECM.

Like I said Paul knows exactly what the error was, but I was pissed and I have no way to contact the kid who tuned my car because he is away for the Navy and won't be back for a long time.

This sucks ass, and there's NO way for me to get a hold of the guy who tuned it.

Maybe, just maybe, flashing it back to stock at a GM dealer will allow it to be tuned? Can anyone confirm this?

Hey Paul I found this, not sure if it can be of any use or not:

http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web

And this thread on an HPT site:

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?p=87249

Would using credits from 2006 model year instead of 2007 allow the car to be tuned? Or would it be the same problem.

What version of HPT are you using? If you are using 2.23 Beta, go back to 2.22 and it should let you in. I ran into something similar on an 07 a week ago.

Let me know what they say, I need to get this thing inspected at the end of the month and the CEL is still on.

Can I just delete the code and take it to get inspected or will it come up again? I never really have dealt with getting a car with a CEL inspected before so I have no idea...

nope, the CEL can be cleared but the OBDII tester will say that the test is not completed yet

What do you mean?

What if I unplug the battery and reset it that way?

when you delete the code, it will go away but the ECU has many "self-tests" If one of those tests are not completed, the inspection center can not pass you

you'll need to get the pcm flashed by a tech 2 at your local dealership

I ran into the same problem when I tried to fix a tune on a car
pcm had totally different year model and make ... and even then he couldn't even flash it
because it was locked... try it but you might have to get a new pcm

Did getting the PCM flashed by a Tech 2 fix the issue and allow it to be tuned?

Paul my buddy is a Tech at a dealer here so I have no issue flashing this. Only prob is driving 2 hours to your place on the stock tune lol.

won't be out in LI for another month, staying up here this weekend. I'll email bill again and see what I can so

well it is confirmed, whoever flashed your car put an 06 os on the car, no idea how they managed that, but I just heard back from Bill, now trying to see how to fix it

ok sucks, but you have to get a dealer to flash it stock. I guess pop in some stock injectors if you got so you can drive it down to me, then I can retune. Nothing I can do

You might be able to take a good 2007 os & flash it in but the best bet is a tech 2...there should be some stock 07 files in the repository if you want to try it out...just cross your fingers

yeah I have a bunch of stock07 files, but I don't want to risk it. hopefully he has some stock injectors lying around he can toss in to get down here on if he goes to a dealer by him

Paul any dealers by you that would do it? Then we can tune it in the dealer parking lot or something...

I'm actually not going down to L.I. until Saturday now because my friend is stuck in Cape Cod due to rain. Any way I can swing by on my way down?

I'll be at my friends shop all day saturday so if you want to meet me there it's fine (he's about 25 minutes from my house west). there's a dealer about 2 miles from him, I can check and see if I can get you in there saturday to retune.s
