Cobalt ss not supercharged?
Cobalt ss not supercharged?
I went to a dealer today and he said that some cobalt ss' don't have superchargers on them, yet they are ss models? Whats the difference between the ss and the lt then?
2.4L n/a 175hp. basically just the body kit is put on and has the SS suspension.. not really sure why they made them without a s/c. kind of stupid IMO. i was lookin it up earlier and each year its
2% had the LSJ 2.0 s/c
2% has the 2.4 n/a
96% are base model
2% had the LSJ 2.0 s/c
2% has the 2.4 n/a
96% are base model
GM wanted an Automatic SS. The 2.4 was the solution. But they had it on the market for a short period of time. The ones you will find on the car lot will have SS things such as the body kit, etc but will not have the SS badge
The SS S/C has a different suspension than the SS 2.4
2.4L = 06, 07, 08 (?)
different suspension than the cobalt ss supercharged
2.4L LE5
cloth or leather interior 168hp 173 lbft of torque
Most come in automatic
have 140mph speedo
don't have lip kit on front or rear
no high mount usually
called the SS in 06, 07, called the Sport in 08.
I think thats it.

The LE5 has 171-173Hp depending on the year. Also note that the 2.4L SS is lighter than the base and supercharged/turbocharged models
That would depend on options as far as 2.4/base. There's nothing done to "lighten" the FE3 cars, so it's all about how they were optioned out originally.
there is no way in hell my base 2.2 with crank windows and no power locks is heavier than a 2.4.
theres just no way.
auto sedan for auto sedan its impossible.
someone get actual curb weights in here of both comparable models. BASE 2.2 vs 2.4
a base model 2.2 is the lightest, since it lacks the sunroof, power window motors, lock solenoids, the extra wiring, the pioneer sub, the tweeters, that associated wiring, also has a plastic intake manifold, no heavy supercharger/turbo(and piping), and a few small things like the carpet covering the trunk section, etc.
If you pop the hood on it, and it has "Ecotec VVT" on the top of the engine, then it is the LE5 2.4L Ecotec.
This was only known as the SS for a short time until they changed it to Sport. The 08 Sports had the LE5, but the very few sports (Or G5GT's) from 09 had the LAP engine which is also found on the LS.
The reason they changed it to the Cobalt "Sport" was to make sure it was not being confused with the boosted SS cars.

QFT
There is no cobalt lighter than a stripper Base .
Alright I know it sounds impossible so here the info:
2007 Cobalt LS coupe (w/o options) curb weight: 2991 lbs.
http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/Spec...&Mileage=12000
2007 Cobalt SS/NA coupe (w/o options) curb weight: 2815 lbs.
http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/Spec...&Mileage=12000
2007 Cobalt SS/SC (w/o options) curb weight: 2925 lbs.

2009 Cobalt SS/TC coupe (w/o options) curb weight:2926 lbs.
http://www.chevrolet.com/vehicles/20...pe/features.do
Surprisingly enough the 2009 non SS coupes seem to be the lightest w/ a curb weight ranging between 2721-2743 lbs.
I'm going to post the sedan weights as well but I'll let you argue over this first lol.

Note the 2009 models are lighter due to the fact that they no longer come with the spare tire and associated equipment standard, its an option now. Your probably now wondering
no spare tire? Its going to be ok they come with a inflater kit (I'll take the spare thank you very much) thats lighter. If you get the spare tire option it replaces the inflater kit. So there you have it folks

no way. not a chance.
i believe chevy over KBB anyday too btw.
none of their facts are right, so what you're essentially trying to say is that interestingly enough the base model coupe weighs more than the SS/SC, with its supercharger, cast intake manifold and the heat exchanger?
